A song for Ronnie on a Stones Show

What about one Keith and one Ronnie song on a Stones show? I think that would be great.

Like Happy and 1234 of Before they make me run and Take a Look at That Guy?

If it meant taking away one "Stones" tune away from the show,
I would say no.
I personally would like to see slightly longer shows, so if they were willing to add a Ronnie tune
to the setlist, I would go for that but doubt it would ever happen.

So Mick should be backstage drinking tea for five songs? On a Stones concert?

Mick can sing backup if he wants

Maybe Mick can take a nap.

Jagger's onstage/lead vocal time is short enough already as it is

No way. Mick is the lead singer and as Gazza said, his time is short enough.

As much as I love Keiths tunes, I'd prefer he do one instead of two.

well, too bad - you're all overruled! :E
but you have my permission to go ahead and talk Mick into doing 17 numbers anyway - total of 22.
oh and all three can share the lead vocals on Am I Grooving You and I'm Alright.

Repeating myself....but I tHink they should do I Can Feel The Fire - Jagger is needed on that one as well.
Also If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody - with Rod Stewart running out of the shadows, just before his part

I wouldn't mind the band doings ome of Ronnie's songs so long as he doesn't sing them! Regrettably he is not blessed with a golden voice.

Or they can do a Berry (or Berry-like) tune and have Mick, Keith, and Ronnie, each take a verse...it would be fun to see happen...

I'd second the idea. Memory Motel with the 3 of them or even "Something Happened to Me Yesterday" from BTB.

Any addition of Ronnie would be great to see just to break the monotony but it would never happen. They are too set in their ways and routines that something like that would throw them all off. Other bands would do that--change things up and allow a band member to do a song--but not the Stones. I'm not sure why. Flexibility in performing has not been one of the Stones' strong points.

smile: you're taking kind of a short perspective there, Justin.
remember when Keith first took an LV turn - what a surprise that was!
and then later when he got to take *two*?! and then the stunning turn of events at Vancouver 06 -
i'll be darned, there's life in the old dogs yet :E

Don't know so much about a live song but I think he's due an album slot after all these years of service. I'm sure he could come up with something of quality to enhance a Stones release.

That would not help things any. They would not add any Jagger lead vocals under those circumstances. The set list would just continue to shrink. The Vancouver '06 concert with three Richards lead vocals did not have any fewer Jagger lead vocals than the show right before it in Los Angeles had.

No songs for Ronnie, please and let Keith do one tune only. Mick is the lead singer and his time is, as mentioned above, already too short anyway.

I think I once posted something along the lines of the following, but I think it bears to be repeated:

Rather than have Bonnie Raitt, Joss Stone, etc., perform on the bill with the Stones, have the opener be a rag-tag updated edition of the New Barbarians. They could play Keith songs, Ron songs, MacLagan songs, Faces songs, Berry songs, etc. Mick could even walk out in a bathrobe with a towel wrapped around his hair to loan vocals to a song or two before retreating to his dressing room.

they could do it and not make a big deal of it. were used to having a break before Keiths songs because its been after intros on last several tours. but they could just throw in a Ron Wood song somewhere during the show with a breif into from Mick like "Rons gunna sing for ya now"... maybe mick could play something on it.

Whatever replaces three warhorses would be nice.

It cannot happen, Ronnie lost his voice a few years ago. His last releases are great stuff, musically but he started using guest vocalists in 1992 until now. And you can hear the reason why. He´s a nice guy, he wrote great songs but he cannot sing anymore.

I agree, Gazza. Keith's time needs to be cut in half so Mick get more time, not less! I would like maybe more songs that showcase Ronnie on steel peddle. How about one Keith song and one featuring Ronnie that Mick sings with Ronnie on backing vocals.
