late night pubs in central london area

anyone know of any, and its opening times for after the concert on the 26th.

need to kill a bit of time before getting allnight bus to stansted from victoria.

would be looking for a pub to be open to about 2am.
cant seem to find much joy on internet sites, lots of misleading information as some advertise late night opening then quote closing times of 11pm, which is a total contradiction.

most others advertize as discos, music bars with cocktails etc, which isnt what im looking for, i just want somwhere where i can get a couple of beers in a pub that dosent have a particularly smart dresscode.

any info would be welcome.

The pub at St Giles will be open as long as we want, every night.

The problem is, is that most bars that do stay open 'till the early hours ARE music bars. You don't get many bog standard boozers open untill those times in central London.

The St. Giles Hotel is VERY expensive to stay at right? I wanted to stay there originally, but I dropped it after I saw the prices.

Kent:
Not so expensive, and you can´t beat the location.
For 7 nights in a double room, I paid 4200 SEK (306£), that´s 600 SEK (43£) a night. Last year I had a single room, that was a bit more expensive.

Nanker Phlegm, of course it´s open for "friends"!

I remember hitting a few late-night places (clubs, not pubs) in Camden a few years ago. They weren't the coolest places in the world, but they got the job done.

Not the coolest? Camden is probably the coolest place for night life in London!

It seemed expensive on those hotel sites. Anyway it's already sold out for the dates I need. sad smiley

What nights do you need? I think I'm about to cancel my reservation. A friend of mine got a deal at a 5 star for next to nothing, so I'll probably move over there and save some money.

Agreed! But the places I wound up going at 2 AM were basically discos.

Though if one was so inclined, one could get their drink on in a big way.

Even though all the English kids there were drinking Rolling Rock for some reason.

I haven't been to London in a few years - wasn't a law passed that extended pub hours?

Well, that's what I'll do to then. Hey how abou those beer gardens I keep hearing about? If they're outside it would be legal to smoke there right?

I need from the 25th at about 18.00 hours, to the 27th at about 11.00 around noon. I have a hostel (St. Christopher's Inn a.k.a. The London Bridge Hostel) by now, but if I could go into a good hotel for a cheap price, I'd love to jump ship.

Send me an email and I'll see if we can figure out a way to switch it out. I have a reservation for the 24th through the 27th. I haven't sent in my cancelation yet so maybe I can send them a cancellation and they can just book you for the 25th and 26th. Email me at funtimeguyla@aol.com. I was planning on letting them know tomorrow.

Yes, well it goes for the whole of the UK. Many town centre pubs are now open untill 1am or so on weekends, though many have stuck with the old 11pm closing time. Those which stay open later tend to be more 'clubby' or music venues.

You can smoke in beer garedns and most pubs have cigarette bins for those who just pop out the front for a smoke between drinks. The garden is a fine concept for when its sunny and you tend to be outside anyway, though is not much cop when it's miseable like it has been here lately.

I'll be honest. I'm a smoker and I was dreading the ban. A month in and I can honestly say that it hasn't bothered me too much. I of course would love to be able to spark up inside, but am geting used to it, just like the majority seemingly are too.

Bloody good question, and sorry I don't have an answer.

I had exactly the same problem last year after Twickenham 2, well, a night after that, but anyway: needed to pick up the Stanstedt bus at 3 am from Victoria and for that reason not having a room, but decided to 'hang out'. Everything went okay till midnight but after that: spent more or less two hours or something walking on a heavy rain trying desperately find a place to have a drink. Yeah, finally found a shit place at Soho, but somehow the whole thing sounded a bit bizarre: no bloody bar open in the central of what 10 millions? habitants metropol... I still hear the voice in my ears singin "Well, what can a poor boy do in a sleepy London town..." or "Walkin Thru The Sleepy City"... I understand what the guy means...

Maybe this problem sounds strange to British ears, but honestly, 'where I come from' I'm not used to have problems like these...

Jey Jomo. Could you perhaps mention the price first? What would it cost to have a room there from Aug. 25th (At around 17.00 or 18.00 'o clock) to Aug. 27th (To about 11.00 or 12.00 'o clock at noon).
