Keith Richards insists he'll never stop drinking because he has outlived a number of doctors who warned him about his constant partying.

The guitarist, who was once addicted to heroin for 10 years, claims decades of hard-partying have taught him to know his limits.

He says, "They keep telling me to stop drinking, but I can't be bothered. It's like, 'You don't know me, I know me.' The people who've told me to stop doing this and that and they've croaked.

"Not that I want to brag about it, but I mean, I've had about three doctors who told me, 'If you carry on like this, you will be dead in six months.' I went to their funerals."

sigh. keith has some amazing genes, but if he really thinks this, i think he's fooling himself :-( hope he at least slows it down a little, he doesn't have to prove anything to anybody, we love him anyway !

I don't believe he ignores the doctors at all.
I'm pretty sure he drinks more than he really ought to...but I'm equally sure he doesn't constantly drink as much as many folks [or indeed he] would still have us believe.

I agree. Keith's image and the real Keith--especially nowadays--are two different things.

I'm not judgemental when it comes to how much people drink but when you do it excessively over the course of forty years or so your liver is gonna take a beating. I hope he stops or at least slows down and does it in moderation.

The weird thing is that some folks do get away almost unscathed with smoking like a chimney and/or drinking like a fish for 60 years. Just the luck of the physiological draw I suppose.

Quite agree about Keith's bullshitting...but "going to their funeral" is a common expression for a person outliving somebody else.

the book promtion slowy starts..PR men and women from the book publishing company will be floating out some great Sh*T the next couple years...

Image is one thing, reality another. Everyone can see he has cut down on the booze. After Helsinki, he's taken a few less, and improved his playing and performance incredibly. People who have been to a lot of shows must have seen it. He's fine - and I just love the guy. Impossible not to.

Wait, how many times during this leg of the tour has he cut down on the booze?

I'm all for it (and him), I'm just sayin'.

Any chance of a 90 break with no discussion of Keith's health or personal issues?
