Last time I checked, no one had a gun pointed to their head
and was forced to shop at Walmart, nor was anyone forced to work there.
If I don't like the food or service at a reataurant, I don't go back.
I don't wish them ill will or chew on rags wishing they'd vanish.
They do employ a lot of people. Funny, people love to hate Walmart,
but they ususally love Target, Costco, etc...
Also, I was in the muisic wholesale/distribution business for a long time,
and the rise of the superstores had little to do with the demise of
record stores. That has to do moire with online purchasing, iTunes, Napster,
file sharing than anything else. My accounts all across the US told me so.

A Jack White produced stones album ... now that would be great. Jack White or Rick Rubin, that's what we've been waiting for , right?

I agree with tomk if you don't like the place don't go there. Go to Target you know the store that does not let the Salvation Army out front at Christmas time.

Who is Jack White ?

Okay, I know he is said to be a really good rock guitarist and had a band with his older sister. But, what can he really bring to the table working with ROlling Stones ? A band must have really stong material that people want to buy. The name Jack White will not help unless the project is really kick ass. He's a young kid and the movie "It Might Get Loud" was pretty good, but I could not tell you what songs he's known for. He does not have a legacy that people are following to the point where it makes a dent in the record labels calculator.

Well, he does bring credibility for sure. I think Jack White's name is much more well known these days in industry circles than Don Was' is. If the songs were up to snuff, I personally think JW could bring out a more raw and honest sound from the Stones than they've had in 20+ years. I say give the lad a chance - it can't be worse than any of the overprodiced stuff they've churned out the last couple of decades.

And to those saying Rick Rubin should produce - while I think it's a fine idea on paper, and he IS a very good producer, I have doubts that Mick would do it if the stories are true that they fought bitterly over how 'Wandering Spirit' should sound.
