Funny that you mention it because I was thinking about it a couple of days ago. I don't know if they use it but it sounds like they don't and I like it this way.

Very similar technology will sometimes be used in the production of live albums and DVDs though...to which I have no objection whatsoever,

It's pitch correction in the digital domain for the benefit of tidying up a live performance [or for the use of manufactured bands... who could never sing or play in the first place ! ]

I'm quite sure the Stones don't use autotone - but I've read a lot about autopilot^^
mainly regarding last years leg of the tour.

Also, the german magazine "Der Spiegel" claimed that they during the VL tour could proove that the Stones used playback, and that Chuck controlled it.. As I remember the statement caused some turbulence in the Stones camp, and "Der Spiegel" had to withdraw there statements.. smiling smiley

PS.. This is just from memory, please correct me if I'm wrong on anything here..

I think you're right, Mjol.
It was easy for the magazine to put out false information, but it took over a year to correct that statement and come back to the truth.

This b.s. story is stuck in the heads of many people I've talked to.

The story in Der Spiegel was based on "Rock And A Hard Place" - some kind of thing that happened at the same time, in every version that tour
There was big fuzz about it - even here. Didn't Rolling Stones get some millions from Der Spiegel afterwards, and gave it to charity? I think they did

Actually it's called Auto-Tune. Almost every plastic pop-star uses it today.

as mentioned in another thread...I was shooting a Vince Neil (motley crue) concert last week...and
it was so obvious that his voice had been altered electronically.
I don't know if it was an auto-tune or a harmonizer..or whatever...or both!
but he sounded like "Alvin & the Chipmunks". It was even turned on
when he was speaking to the crowd.

hey brewcrew...are you from milwaukee?
