I think it is their best ever song and that they should play it for a full two hours without having to resort to poor quality songs like MR, Sympathy, All Down The Line and Brown Sugar.
It could. I don't see a major difference between AAY and Slipping Away in terms of the general type of song. Any reason you know for certain that Keith would never pull that one out of the hat?

Reminds me of the Jagger interview from IORR early 1998, where Mick said "no, of course Keith hasn't done ALl About You live!" And the interviewer kept on going "well you've played it at 50 shows last year" - but Jagger refused Quite funny - Jagger pay no attention to Keith's performance

A joke is not necessarily a bad thing to build a song on. Wonderful Tonight by Clapton is a joke too - though I don't care for that one anyway - it's still a classic

It's a good song, but I don't think it's one of his classics. I'd like to see him play Little T&A again, but I guess that's really a no go.
Undercover of the Night, Emotional Rescue, these are all Mick's calculations about the market. And they're not the best records we've made. See, Mick listens to too much bad shit.
I was thinkin the lack of guitars wasnt a problem anymore!! noo I love it what a brave move for a R&R band...a dream song...girls like it...play it loud in your car and drive through the ghetto..when the snow falls!!i said it before but that moment when Jagger returns to his normal? voice is just such a relief e....thats magic in the air...the guitars that are there i love...and so do ilove the sax just as much...you could be mine oh mine!!
Love the song, especially the bass (Ron) & Charlie's drumming, Mick's persona as weird as on the rest of the album. Nice slinky funk. Whole album lacks SG's urgency & sense of purpose but has a fantastic band on pharmaceutical coke laying down great grooves (& occasionally, Down In The Hole for instance, songs)...Also a great guitar album, real 'weaving', maybe thanks to the proximity to the New Barbs tour...Very listenable.
I love Emotional Rescue. Can't imagine them doing it live. Mick couldn't hit the high notes now, and doing it in a lower register wouldn't work because the falsetto contrated with the spoken sign-off.
