OT: Norah Jones

A very special woman in my life sent me this link:

It's Norah's cover of "The Nearness of You". Damn, not only does she have a beautiful voice, she looks good, too.

Submitted for your approval.

Ms Jones sure is lovely and a very gifted singer, but her version just doesn't move me at all.

It's too perfect and a bit tedious actually.

I prefer the rendition by Keith as featured on Four Flicks.

His version gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.

Well, that wasn't exactly why I posted it. It's the lyrics, and the thought behind it. That's all I can say.

Her father is Ravi Shankar!!! She damn sure didn't get her looks from him. Thanks goodness! Her mother must be beautiful.

She's a very talented girl who'll be around for the long haul. Needs to vary her formula a little more. Did I mention good looking?

I thnk she does a great job with "Wild Horses" on Tim Ries' CD. Some disagree.

Norah Jones is one of the best from the younger female artists. I'll see her in July in concert when she comes to my hometown. I bought a good close-to-stage-ticket cheaper on ebay. So I pay much less for the most expensive category, than the cheapest category is.

Your right Elmo. I'm not sure who her mom is. But she didn't get the looks from Ravi. Very sexy voice. But I think she does need to liven it up a bit in the future. Play some up tempo material.

Eh...Anoushka is much better looking...and WAYYYYYYY more talented. I saw Norah in a small club once...talk about an unproffesional musician...she just kept complaining about how hot it was. Just bitch bitch bitch the entire show. Further...she was dull...every song was slow...she put the audience to sleep within 45 minutes. She has a nice voice & all...and I like some of her songs...but that night certainly didn't show her in a good light.

I did catch Ravi & Anoushka a month ago or so...now that was a nice show. Ravi can still play at a top level...although his shows are a bit shorter these days (granted...he "retired" a few years ago...but he plays locally time to time...even throughout California a little).

Good looking?? She's a f*ckin hottie. Beautiful dark hair (no blonde can duplicate that look) olive oil skin, luscious lips, and....

Just watched her video and it's so bland, packaged and quite frankly boring.

Keith's version on Four Flicks has so much soul and feeling and has given me such a lift after everything that has been spoken about this week.

Make em have it Keef at the IOW!!!

maybe so, but "f*cking hot" is hardly a description that would apply to the all-too-human riff . . .

*and i'm just like that bird - singing just for you*
