I am writing in from Germany where, on a clear day, you can listen to Radio Eriwahn on AM, and sure enough sensational news came thru the airwaves last night: Before starting the rehearsals in Europe for their upcoming tour, the Stones did intensive rehearsals for a special club gig on July 12th in Dartford, among the songs they rehearsed were "Bad Boy", "I Ain't Go You" and "Don't Stay Out All Night"! Rehearsals were filmed by D.A. Pennebaker, who will also film the gig in July; it will be released just before Christmas in two formats only: Blu-Ray and for us vinyl fans a box with 12(!) 78 records with picture sleeves. Can't tell you more, as this was broadcasted way past midnight, and even thou they promised to play a song from these rehearsals, probably "Blues Before Sunrise", I fell asleep shortly afterwards; but then again maybe all this was nothing but a dream!
not sure but i think 7/12/62 is generally acknowledged as their first 'official' gig...so that will be 45 years as a working/performin band exactly, (if i've got that date correct...) (it is also my natal birthday ironically...(not the year, ize born in the fifties... but the 12th july)...dunno about a secret club gig but the date struck me...) thass a pretty good birthday present for a young child in america who was not to hear them for another year or two...the gift that keeps on giving. __ __ __ __
where can i get tonight's entire set list, anybody please?...i don't mind the spoiler...spoil me....i'm hungry for the reviews too...guess they must be close to wrapping up right about now...
