Mick's born Michael Phillip. Who figured out to call him Mick. Have been wondering for a while!

"Mick" has a cooler sound to it than "Mike."

cna't possibly be the reason! I mean who was the first one to call him Mick?? Chris, his dad, his mum, Dick Taylor, Keith...??

It was only speculation. I have a friend who we used to call "Micky" but now he prefers "Mike."

he actually preferred to be called Mike when he was a teenager.

So....again, my question; Who decided to call our Mick for Mick. Gus Dupree, Bill Wyman, or his class teacher?? Who?

He decided himself. To be honest, anymore of an indepth answer would require a conversation with the man himself probably.

Personaly, I think i'd prefer Mike. Mick is a little old fashioned these days.

Just think it's weird that no one actually knows. At this board a lot of people knows an awful lot about The Rolling Stones. But no one seems to know why Mick's called Mick. Hmm...odd, I think.

My elder brother is named Michael but always got called Mick and
when mum wasn't around we use to call him Micky Drippin'.....True!!!

Probably ALO had something to do with it. Wasn't there a band name change... Rollin became Rolling

in Tiger Beat circa 1964 or some equally authoritative source,
i read that Chris used to call him Mick to annoy him

My name is Michael and my and my brother and mum call me Mick. But then again, they know about my obession with the Stones :-)
