Brian Jones - Saxaphone

I was just listening (actually watching) the Beatles "You Know My Name Look Up My Number extended version" clip on YouTube.

Of course, it features Brian Jones on saxaphone.

Question: Did Brian play sax on any Stones songs?

Brian plays soprano sax on Dandelion and Child of the Moon. His alto on The Beatles track is rather shaky, but fitting.

Alexis Korner said that Brian, post stones, wanted to add a sidney bechet soprano sound to his then new band in the making. If this is so, Brian would have had a whole lot of practising to get on with!!!

He also has been credited for playing on the Beatles' "Baby You're A Rich Man" and a Mike McGear track (I forget which song).

Brian is also credited with the sax on the Beatles "Old Brown Shoes"

It's a different Brian Jones on the McGough and McGear album, he of The Undertakers.

There's no sax on the aforementioned Beatles songs. I'm not sure why Glyn Johns has said it's Brian on sax on BYARM because it actually features a clavioline played by John Lennon. .

OK (though I was referring to a McGear solo album). As I was posting that I was trying to remember a sax in BYARM and couldn't hear it.

Thanks for the info, and I agree with your critical assessment. Best track on DW! (well, along with Harlem Shufle.)

I can't hear any sax in this song. The only Beatles track BJ played on is "You Know My Name'. I have read that he also played sax on Lady Madonna but I think this may be wrong.

Ronnie Scott and a few other British jazzers play on Lady Madonna. The solo is played by RS.
