HI all,

Fan for ages (since 9 yo - first purchase "Rewind")...and first post.

Does anybody else love the "Satanic" and "Black and Blue" albums in particular?

I find these to be special because the Stones had a serious challenge ahead of them and were both a transitional period. Despite some weak points on both, I LOVE these more than any other album (Goats Head Soup the exception...which could actually fall in this category!)

Glad to become part of his forum.

ROD

Agree to Black & Blue. Satanic not so much.

Totally enjoy Satanic and have done for forty years. My favourite album and also my sons favourite. Love dirty work, the album being my least favourite but not unenjoyable is Ya Yas.

Satanic is a good album. Citadel,2,000 light years from home,She's a Rainbow, The Lantern 2,000 Man. All solid.

If Satanic had included a few songs from that era like Dandelion and We Love You, and perhaps if Side 1 had ended with "Where's that joint?" it would be better respected today. I think I even would like Gomper if it had a different title.

Black and Blue is my favourite Stones album ever. Hand of Fate and Memory Motel, Keith shoutin' IRIE!! And it was released on my birthday, 20th of April, Though I wasn't born in 1976....

Hi Welcome Rod,

As Black and blue was my first truly encounter with the Stones and especially the hot 'Hey Negrita' tune.

This lovely girl, a bit older than me bought B&B after its release and played it to me. so I heard the record a few years later after its release must have been '79 or '80 or something, I was 12-13 yrs and very "open" for the wild wild stones. Both Mick and Keith were my heroes. Been a big fan ever since. Strangely I still get this unbeleivable feel of freedom when I hear Stonesmusic. I know I'm not alone on this, certainly not on this forum. But still... I like other music but it doesn't get to me in the same way.

Anyway, don't like satanic though. :-).

But thanks to whatever mystic luck I'll see my heroes alive and kicking in a few months.

Life's good.

Best,

How can you not like "the Citadel", one of the greatest Stones songs ever....

I always liked the title of Satanic. It's a shame that it didn't pan out for them.
