Check out this ebay listing. Either they know something we don't or they need to shift the ticket in a hurry.

Well alright!!

I would think the "Special Guests" would most likely be U2 and not the Police as the Police will be on tour and have a show the same day.

It's probably because of the Police-confusion on the rs.com pages, which schillid had a thread about yesterday.
I certainly hope it's not Police, I'd rather listen to Joe Bloggs street Cop than that Sting guy

Nah, sales are going fine, right? So no big names needed IMO

Lord Mountcharles said in an interview on Irish TV that The Police were definitely not supporting due to their touring schedule. Fingers crossed for AC/DC but they have'nt toured in a couple of years, so I'd say that's unlikely.
My guess would be more current bands like Razorlight, keane, Mika etc.

But for frigs sakes, who the hell would believe that the Police would be supporting the Stones; Sting et al are charging a small fortune for tickets where they headline in their own right - what in the name of all thats sainted would make people think that somehow, magically, they'd be supporting in Slane...

it's nothing at all to do with touring schedules...

as for suggested bands, indeed, you're hitting nails on the head with your suggestions, it's certainly *that* grade of band you'll get

i'm pretty sure AC/DC could headline Slane themselves to be honest

not really any reason for them to come out of hibernation to support someone

mind you, they did in Hockenheim even though they've headlined it themselves so you never know

i'd rate it as a 5% chance

"Plus Special Guests" on a ticket means nothing more than "Plus Support". No opening acts have been announced yet

The Police are capable of filling a stadium in Ireland on their own. Andy Summers was on a chatshow in Dublin on Saturday night and even he doesnt know when their Dublin show will be - other than there probably will be one

And the Stones have already sold this venue out in two hours - so they sure as hell dont need The Police - or anyone - on the bill to help them shift tickets.

I bet it's U2... Mick is inspired by Bono and Bono listened to the Stones as a kid. Bono and Mick are friends. Special guest: U2

Bono and Mick are not only friends, their corporations share the same monumental canalhouse in Amsterdam. They're both bussinessmen, I don't believe for a second U2 will support the Stones. And usually I'm willing to believe anything until it's proven wrong. I mean, it would be great, for sure. But...

yeah...sure..U2 as a support act in their home country and where they could probably sell about 10 nights at that venue in an hour....I've heard it all now

as i said earlier - "special guests" is a common thing to put on concert tickets at Irish shows. It just means "support"

surprised nobody has mentioned pearl jam as a possible support slot, they are touring europe this summer and with no irish dates announced i think they would be a major possbility.

Hello,

Possibly Velvet Revolver.

Although I'm only there for the main event-The Stones.

Cheers,

Si.

Absolutely no way will U2 support the stones. Mick, Macca and Bono are the three ego kings of rock n roll. Ain't nobody gonna support nobody!

Here is a more likely list of support acts for the Stones Euro Tour:

Razorlight
The Kooks
Amy Winehouse *Very likely I think*
Artic Monkeys
Charlatans
Kasabian
The Fratellis
The View
The Feeling
Kaiser Chiefs
Arcade Fire
Kings of Leon
Snow Patrol
Scissor Sisters
Jet

sounds about right. the usual 'easy to guess' pulled straight from the pages of the NME watered down, crap 'indie' bullshit

the band have no balls anymore. they only get in a decent support (eg AC/DC) when the tickets wont shift

otherwise its so so predicatable every year

i guess the likes of Feeder, Charlatans/Burgess were used due to management connections though. shame on them

I would love to see Robert Plant with the Stones Slane show.
