Re: Stones own record label

The Stones started RS records after the late 60s utopian vision of Our Own label had lost its shmmer, i.e. the Beatles' experience w/ Apple & subsequent problems. The Stones (who were talking about forming their own "Mother Earth label circa '69) may have intended to do more with the new label distribution deal via Atlantic in '71, but after a decade together, no longer living in the same country, etc what would they agree on? The Howlin Wolf album w/ the Stones & Clapton came out in some territories on RS, and Brian's Joujouka album...then there was talk of Jimmy Miller's pet fave, Kracker...Bill's albums, then a long time before Peter Tosh in '78 (Wyman wanted Peter Grant...). Jim Carroll was to be on RS in '80, but as I recall when Earl McGrath or someone left the company the project shifted to Atco...And by '84 when they left Atlantic, the label was just a logo it seems.
