Where Are The Naysayers Now?
Posted by: bassplayer617 ()

I always get a laugh out of the folks who decide to crawl back into the woodwork when a new tour is announced.

No names will be mentioned, as the modern-era Stones bashers are well-known.

Just wait -- they WILL crawl out and start whining the day after the first gig is played.

Where Are The Naysayers Now ?

Laying low of course. Wouldn't you be too, if you'd have devoted as much time and energy as some on this board have to telling everyone there'd be no tour etc etc - only to be firmly put in their place by today's announcemnt ?

And a mighty tour it is too. 27 massive concerts covering a huge selection of countries.

God I love this band.

I am currently listening to 'Like a rolling stone' on my headphones and I think my ears are about to start bleeding.

This is the best day in ages......!

hoping for a great euro tour...
they're makin' good on their word to make up shows after the accident last year.
and they were in real good shape as the yank leg ended; really only took six months off considering the june start dates...(or say, less than five months since last gig and first rehearsal for the summer euro tour)...something like that....
considering that they first started rehearsals early 2005...a long time on the road...
(not counting the other tours these last 40 years or so)...
i bet people will be coming from miles around
just to hear 'em play their music when the sun goes down...

I am a naysayer and proud of it -- there will be no US tour in the fall!

Seriously, I will come back to this thread as soon as I hear one SOB complain about a bum note at a concert he or she did NOT attend. This will probably be the same SOB who got a free bootleg of that show.

I'm sick and tired of that kind of crap. I can guarantee there will be some bum notes and flubbed riffs. THIS time around, I want the nitpickers to be dragged through the streets with their whines played back to them at maximum volume on their effin' headphones.

Ok, I KNOW your story LOL. Really, I'm gonna keep this on the back-burner till June. By that time, it may take some digging to find, but I think it may prove worthwhile revisiting.

Come on Tod. If you are any kind of fan of the Stones at all,you can't tell me you have no interest in the European tour?

i am some kind of fan of the stones. but, if anyone thinks there's anything upcoming but more of the same-old, same-old - there's gonna be some bigtime disappointment.

its the same stage, the same setlist, the only difference now is the band are so tired and disinterested they couldnt even be bothered to show up to do the press! you do the math!

Well I don't think anybody expects them to morph back to 1969 or anything like that. But for those of us who still enjoy listening to this band, yeah it's kind of a big thing.

Having the band show up or not show up for a tour press conference is about as relavant as one of stonestod's posts. You guys want to bet that this will be a very well attented tour?

sure they'll "sell out" every show.I'm not bitching just for bitchings sake - i love this band, but man take a break reset let everyones bank balances recover, think up a new facia for the tour and get out on the road, don't run the same tour into the ground for nothing!

or as well-spelled as one of yours....

the point is that the lads have been on autopilot for too long now to be taken seriously. it's a fun party and all, but it has run its course.....and I think the most dignified thing they could do at this point is call it a day.

i saw clapton the other night - the guy keeps it fresh and interesting. you can go to his next tour and know you're not going to be in a deja vu experience. same with dylan, neil young and many others i could cite....the stones just don't care enough anymore....why should their fans?

Ok, guys, let your bitterness be heard. Didn't waste any time, did you? C'mon, let it out. My heart bleeds for you.

First of all. Where did you go to school tod?Oregeon. Or as we call it down here, the 13th grade.

On another point. I also saw Clapton. Sun. night in SJ. Derek Trucks is everything he's advertised to be. I don't care what that douche Joel Selvin says. Clapton more than held his own with the farm system.

well - Derek left the tour before my EC show. He was missed, but EC managed just fine, nonetheless....and that's saying something, considering that Trucks may be the greatest guitar player on the planet for my money. We spell Oregon with just the one "e." Great school - as well as USF, from which I received my Masters.

It's all good man.Yeah I was fortunate enough to catch the last show with Trucks. Your right. He might just be the best guitar player alive today. Since it was his last show of the tour,I think Eric gave him some extra time for solos. Which was cool since he looks like he's 15 but plays like Duane Allman.
