More money, more insulation, maybe more forethought & self-awareness...Johnny was a true original, but according to Nina Antonia's bio he also frequently put drugs WAY before career (see the chapter on the making of "Que Sera Sera")

Stronger material in all aspects of the word.
I heard Thunders in early 80s.
Some good lix there within the high high zonked out persona.

Two true greats. No vs. necessary. Thank God we still have Keith though. Music in NY was never the same after Johnny died.

I've seen The New York Dolls live , up close . Great Show but well short of the Stones

Although I felt their appearance @ Lupos Heartbreak Hotel in Providence , RI on 11/ 21 / 06 eclisped the Stones show in AC . the supporting acts boosted my opinioin also .

His song "I'd rather be with the boys" was credited by Richard/Oldham.
Are they another Richard and another Oldham?

No, they are the same Oldham & Richard(s). That song is not Johnny's song, it's Keith's and it was released on Metamorphosis. I love the Gang War cover.

Thanx. I thought it was written by -lonely planet boy- Richard Hell.
Johnny also left us As Tears Go By in his recordings.
Gunsn'Roses made good cover of Johnny's Human Being and You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory.

He also did Wild Horses and Play With Fire. They can be found on the Eve of Destruction Bonus DVD and Sad Vacation.
