Which Keith song would you like to hear Mick sing?
Posted by: marimba ()

I was just wondering while listening to my favourite Keith song, Little T&A, how it would sound like if Mick was singing it. I like his backing vocals and based on them I could well imagine him doing a great version of the whole song. But maybe without the "heys", because that's so Keith. Maybe he could add something new of his own to his version?

Anyone else who would like to hear Mick sing LTA or another Keith tune?

I've said before that I think "Infamy" was written for Mick to sing.

I've missed that discussion, but you could be right. I think it would sound great with Mick's voice.

keith song? I'd like to hear Mick sing STRUGGLE. I'd be happy if they'd start singing HAPPY together again. The combination of Mick and Keith's vocals are what makes that song for me.

IORR............but I like it!

Yeah, marimba, the lyrics seem more for Mick than Keith. Check 'em out.

I'd be curious to hear him sing Before they make me run. Somehow, this is the song that seems to me most specifically fitted to Keith's voice and I'm not sure Mick could even do it justice - it would be worth hearing what he does with the melody.

What a nice thread!! It reminds me of the thread we once had about the last time Jagger was on stage during Keiths act ( Leeds 82..yes! Jagger on background vocals!!).

All of them, Mick's got an A1 voice, Keith doesn't. I have Mick singing YOU GOT THE SILVER on a bootleg and it kicks ass......

Mick has a great rock-voice...right!
Keith doesn't? I don't agree! Ok, he has no "beautyful" voice or so but he has the perfect rock-musician voice, in every single tone you hear his cigaretts, drinks etc. I like hearing his voice for some minutes a gig.

OK, we'll let Keith keep BEFORE THEY MAKE ME RUN cause it sounds like his life story (even though I've read Mick wrote it) but he's got such a TOM WAITS type voice that it sounds better on slower, moody songs... I love when Jagger used to take over HAPPY in the 70's when Keiths voice was too shot. There's one version where Mick almost sings the whole thing solo - and I LIKE IT, LIKE IT, yes I do...

i listened to eileen over and over and i don't think anyone could sing it better than keith, at least in that period...his voke sound is incredible on studio version. still supple; desperate scrream in the tenor is still there, full bodied, controlled...totally deep performance; magic.
so maybe i'd have to go with what 'send it to me' posts below...

I imagine Keith does better on Jagger songs than the other way around. Keith songs are very tailored to exactly his voice.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

In general, Keith's solo spots on the albums are their because they are better suited to his voice.

As mentioned above, there is a version of You Got the Silver available with Mick on it. I don't think it is anywhere near as effective though.

Likewise, I can't even imagine a version of How Can I Stop or Theif in the Night with Mick on Vocals.

Happy always sounded good with Mick on vox for the chorus when played live, but it sounds so good on the record that I wouldn't change it.

Perhaps The Worst would sound good with Mick on vocals, but I still think Keith is a better choice for that song.
