That would be utterly dreadful, but it's not happening. Jagger might be keen to expand the band's demographic, but I can't imagine Keith going for it at all. It was bad enough when Prince - the very antithesis of everything that wretched series stands for - turned up on there.

Even the thought of the Stones being involved with such a crappy concept makes me sick. They would never, ever be involved with Idol. Everyone who has bothered to learn about, read about and get to know their attitudes, their music and personalities will know that this is probably the silliest speculation on this board so far... I hope!

I've never claimed to be an expert, 'great' or an 'aficianado' on anything, actually.

However - feel free to prove me wrong on this assertion. Aside from the fact that they dont do tat like reality TV, the Stones are 'inactive' at the moment, have no product to promote as a tie-in with this- and are hardly all going to fly off to the US to do something like this

Of course we expected that. Mercedes sponsored the US leg of the ABB tour. (See concert programme!) Mercedes even has a Stones-version: Rock the R. With the tongue-logo etc. (I own one!) So, yes - we expected they'd be in a commercial for Mercedes.
But then - Mercedes is a quality car. With ultra low carbon exhaust.
I don't se a parallell when it comes to quality in American Idol - or any other Idol competition. Just love the t-shirts the kids are sporting nowadays: Idiot (with a clear resemblence to the Idol logo). Very funny!

Indeed. Perfectly logical to expect that - even though its hardly 'rock n roll'.

Can never see the stones doing anything like american idol,mabe bon jovi, aint they doing something at the moment.I find like the british version of american idol, if an artist has got something to sell,then they will use the idol show to promote.Anyhow Whens bon jovi been mega.I did read that paul mccartney might be a judge on the american version, think that suits someone like him.

McCartney makes perfect sense: he is the type songwriter thaT they can build an episode around. Where every contestant has to sing a McC song. Did it with Elton too; he showed and was very into it.

Canadian Idol (our spin-off) did in fact do a "Stones" episode last season. The girl who got voted off did the best job (I thought) - but she picked "I Got the Blues" instead of something from 40 Licks like everyone else.
