I purchsed a bottle of Calvados (Dupont, Plus de 20 ans) while in Bayeux last year, and I am thinking of opening it this weekend or next. Any suggestions on how to enjoy this?

Yeah, drink it - but not alone.

You should ask Keith - he was given one in front of Guillaume Tell Studios during the Forty Licks sessions.

Calvados is quite powerfuland sneaks up on you.

Don't drink too much at a time.

A friend brought a bottle back from Holiday.

Was there for dinner and we had some to accompany our coffee.

Was really nice.

Soo nice her OH and I sat and drank the bottle dry as you do.

Try this; 5 parts OJ, 3 parts Calvados, 2 parts Apricot Liquer, drizzle of Grenadine. Shake that baby up with ice in a shaker and add the grenadine later on.

The correct name for Calvados is: Foxpoison (swedish expression)

2 1 2 0

Pour some over apple sorbet, which is good. Drink a lot more which is even better. Very good for keeping the cold out, as warming as sloe gin when out hunting at this time of year. Too much and you end up in the ditch though...

A well stored quality Calvados is the Emperor among drinks.
But like witty Come On says, there are foxpoison brands too.

I once drank a 20 y o brand at Brasserie Lipp in France, back in 1999
(might have been the same brand Hemingway drank at his last visit?):
like sailing up in heaven.......

Thank you for the ideas everyone! I visited the maker's website, calvados-dupont.com, and I'm thinking I made a good choice on brands. I might hold off a bit longer on opening this bottle and give open-g and Erik a little time to get down here! smiling smiley
