Do the Stones have a favorite beer or ale that they request or drink ...? I am asking for a beer publication.... Now you know what ale I like ! Thanks...

Old Speckled Hen is Keith's (at least it was until the brewery changed hands a few years ago ...)
and Ronnie of course was a Guinness man, but since he's trying not to be i don't know if that counts.

did this beer publication ask you to find out, or is this your initiative, or ... ?
(just curious)

I've seen pics of Mick in the early '80s drinking Lowenbrau, for whatever that's worth.

Ronnie is a well-known lover of Guiness.

Thanks guys . I traveled to Dublin in 2003...and took the Hospitality tour at the Guinness Brewery. The folks there took about 30 seconds to figure that we were American. I must have had 8 or 9 pints on the house and needless to say I have very fond memories of that day. Someday ,I will go back!!!!

Affligem, an excellent belgian beer, available in most parisian bars, is my personal fav. as far as hops are concerned!

as for the latter, whatever the flavour of the month in portland is usually works for me . . .

Stones Tod
I kid you not...I will say that I spent a small fortune buying stuff to bring home... I was disappointed that we could not go thru the actual brewery and had to see a film instead...

not that impressive of a tour, i agree - only went on mulitiple occasions to show the place to others. did you get a chance to visit either Bushmills or the Midleton distilleries? Even the old Jameson distillery in Dublin (not far from Guinness) offers a nice little tour of the old factory.....

Lukester - I too enjoy a SN Pale Ale. I don't drink much beer these days but if I'm treating myself to a good 6-pack, SNPA is usually where I look.

In fact, you've inspired me to hit the packy on the way home tonight. Thanks!

No we did not. I was apart of a medical / nursing exchange tour and we were there to go to see hospitals , especially psychatric.. I do remember a lot of pubs and a country western place in the city of Dublin...that was famous. We were there one of the nights and every time my beer was empty , another one appeared. I never ordered! Pretty cool...Don’t You think? Everybody treated us great!!!

Well, the Irish in general are wonderful...there are a few exceptions (Gazza, etc.) of course. I've actually found in my experience that the friendliness and generosity is even a little better in Northern Ireland. I can't tell you how many times I was able to get drunk for free in Derry and Belfast, for instance...

i only smoke in Ireland actually - it's a cinch once you get to know the right people. there's a pub in dublin, for instance, that will lock the doors to keep the garda out so everyone inside can smoke. just ask anyone in town where "Marina" is working - she'll take care of you....

I don't smoke either as I gave it up but when we were there . I was smoking any lent "fags"...just had to! You can't get food in those pubs!!!!

Try the micro brews from Rogue, out of Oregon, USA. They have three killer ones...the best is the Brutal Bitter, followed by the Dead Guy Ale...GREAT hoppy taste, and strong as a moose, as well as the American Ale, kinda like a super strong Sam Addams...

yeah, but you were there before the ban - it's considered much more a badge of courage and honor to smoke in the pubs after the ban.

Have seen many pictures (none of recent vintage, of course) of Mick drinking
Heinekens. Especially, '78 and '81 tours.

As for myself, very difficult to beat Chimay Rouge---those trappist monks
sure know what they are doing.

Funny about the Guiness tour, because when I was in Dublin, I was told by a number of people to avoid it all costs.

Did have a couple of lovely afternoons at the Judge Roy Bean........
