Stones Tix Via Lottery System '72 '81

I was living in NYC at the time and recall during the '72 tour at MSG tix were by lottery. In '81 for the NY/NJ shows fans were directed to send postcards to be eligable for tix.

My question is, did they do this in the bigger market cities of the USA and more importantly, has it ever been done in Europe?

The lottery system was in place for the 1981 tour in Detroit. I was lucky enough to win the opportunity to purchase tickets for both shows. The second night was for festival seating on the main floor. What a bargain back then only $15.00.

I won twice for the New Jersey shows---they came back to back--worked out great because I had 2 buddies who were as into the Stones as I was and this way I did not have to choose.

I didn't realize they used that system in '72 until I saw, I think it was 25 x 5

Yeah, I believe it was mentioned on 25x5. By today's standards the prices of the tix back then seem like a bargain basement sale.

Sam--I remember paying $25.00 to see the Kinks on New Year's Eve 1980 and thinking it was an INSANE amount of money--ha!
