..as well as the original version of Heart of Stone, which was later released on Metamorphosis. But he's not on the version released on Rolling Stones Now.
hmmm...i know ronnie plays the drum part on ST - but I never heard that as an explanation - just heard charlie wasn't in the studio at the time. there's nothing complex about the drums on that song, either....
Yes - (I played) drums on... Sleep Tonight - I could never get over the thought of playing instead of Charlie, I thought that would be a sacrilege, but he insisted because he was going through a lot of problems at the time and couldn't be at the studio. Keith said, Right, you're on drums, so I finally hacked it into shape and when Charlie got there I gave him the sticks and he said, No, I can't get it right, you play it. It worked out good.
thanks - but I think that's more a reflections of charlie's drugged out state than it is his normal ability to play a very simple drum pattern....and for what it's worth, i think the drums on that particular song SUCK!

The drumming being an issue on that album is a strange one given that Steve Jordan was around the studio at the time. If memory serves he even gets a writing credit.

You shouldn´t need liner notes to hear that it´s Jimmy Page. Very recognizable I think. He even uses the same frasing as in "Stairway" in the end of the solo.
