It's not that great. Just a good song that could have replaced Break the Spell. But it's nowhere near as good as fans on this board make it out to be, though.

Agree that it's not that good. Shouldn't replace Break The Spell as that is the best song on Steel Wheels. It could replace Blinded By Love, which is horrible (Especially Mick's nasal singing on it).
"could have replaced Break The Spell"?? I always thought one of Stones strongest influences was BLUES and fans appreciated and loved it. and now someone thinks a blues on a Stones record can be replaced although this is even a quite original one? strange how times have changed. nobody even seems to miss blues songs in a Stones show nowadays. not so long ago Stones could not get away with it! nowadays its obviously more about hits and warhorses. talking about Steel Wheels, the only song I can imagine being replaced is Blinded By Love, may not be a bad song but I dont like the style (like Indian Girl or Sweethearts Together, but Sweethearts was at least quite funny). For Your Precios Love is great performance that would have graced Steel Wheels whereas Blinded By Love is Steel Wheels boring lowpoint.

For Your Precious Love could have replaced any song of about half of the Steel Wheels album , I think. It's a really great song. Only a few overdubs and it would have gone from "excellent" to "Excellent".

Break The Spell is difficult (I did NOT really like it at 13 in 1990), but after all those years to me one of the best SW tracks.
I don't like Almost Hear You Sigh too much, I think it's somewhat boring and totally overrated. For Your Precious Love is similar, but much better. If there had not been Keith' 1987 outtake AHYS, then FYPL had make it on the album I think. They finally choose one of them - the one were they could keep the royalties for themselves.
FYPL had the same bad luck as the fantastic Drift Away, another cover version.

I actually think Break the Spell is not a bad song at all, but SW has no weak songs IMO, and if I had to pick one song for For Your Precious Love to replace, it would be this one. I don't understand all the hatred for Blinded By Love, it's not a bad song, for me it's just barely better than Break the Spell.
How come blues can't be replaced on a Stones record? If there are better songs for an album then the weakest song should be replaced, regardless of genre. It's this kind of overreaction to blues songs on Stones albums that grossly overrates songs like Down In The Hole and Back Of My Hand.
ok ok its a matter of personal taste then. just when some time people were starting threads about their own "personal" tracklist of ABB when Under The Radar and We Dont Wanna Go Home appeared. everyone came up with different ideas which song could be cut from ABB to make it a better album. certain songs that some people regarded as disposable trash were dearly loved by others. so any idea about tampering with the Stones original choice of tracks is like opening Pandoras Box! in case of ABB I would even agree that although I love Back Of My Hand it is not really special or original, its *just* old-fashioned blues that would better on a single b-side. but I would not replace it. I would not even replace I Just Wann See His Face jam on Exile, its certainly not a great 'song', but its part of the whole painting in the flow of the record.

Everyone says this, but I think Just Want To See His Face stands well on it's own as a great song.
For the record, I don't actually ever tamper with an album's tracklist or burn a CD with the album rearranged or some songs added or dropped. I only imagine or wish that a certain song or songs had been included or dropped on the official release. Hell, I don't even skip any Stones songs ever, even Back To Zero.

That's my opinion, too.
Break The Spell is a great Blues tune, I really would like to hear a live version. And Precious Love is a nice ballad, which Blinded By Love isn't.
