I always loved Harry. I remember reading about some rowding drunkeness between him and his buddy John Lennon back in the 70's.
My favorite album was Son of Schmillson. Remember the song, "Take 54?" or that one that goes "you're breaking my heart, you're tearing it apart, so FU*CK you."

Lennon's Lost Weekend in '74. The two collaborated on Harry's "pussycats" album. He and John were pretty tight.
There was an excellent film released at beginning of this year about Harry including much about his friendship with Lennon. It is called "Who is Harry Nilsson" Lots of interviews and they dug up clips of him performing on TV and in studio. Maybe out on DVD by now.
Harry was incredible! Great post!!!! All his CD's have been recently re-released and remastered with bonus tracks...they sound great. An often missed gem is his final disc, which, he felt was his best but was profoundly depressed that the record company didn't promote it at all. He, like so many US acts, found far more success with his later material in Europe. Sad he has left us....
