It's sure to be filmed by the Maysles Bros. as you see a Hell's Angel in close up and stuff like that. Also the flaws are the same as during "Carol" on the Criterion release (The flaws where the screen turns beige or red).
Bloody hell; I've never hear such a great, loud and dirty guitar work in "Jumping Jack Flash"! The first seconds of the riff is a killer in itself! The band surely was hot in Altamont. I hope there would be revealed more.
After JJF cuts out, the silent footage of the crowd clearing a large circle is kind of eerie - obviously, an Angels beat-down was going on.
And yeah - to anybody who hasn't heard the audience recording of the show, it's absolutely chilling. The whole legend of that show basically being hell on earth (at least down front) is not hyperbole - you can here the panic in the voices of the people around the taper. I'll try to post it tonight.
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa !!! Good job Kent....Awww, that 1969 Tour sound, as Doxa said, Loud and dirty guitar - PURE rock and roll. Wonder where this footage is from. Definitely film but I'm not sure if it's 16 or 8 mm. Looks like 16. Now lets just find the whole f*cking Show (on film) and CRANK IT UP !!!!

It seems today is ''Tell me''Altamont day'' we got two threads...and tonight on ''Hot Stuff"" the AR recording of the show...I always wonder if some from this board were at that show.
Yeah Rooster, there's been a few on IORR that made it (not me, I was too young) there's been some threads on it (those who were there) in the last month or 2...maybe a search will dig up something

He was stabbed during Under My Thumb, the number before Brown Sugar. But I he was alive during Brown Sugar. I doubt he paid so much attention to that debut though.
Could this have been shot by the Maysles and it just ended up on the cutting floor? The edits that made it to the bonus section from the GS dvd by Criterion were far from perfect. They certainly had the cameras there at Altamont with different angles. Wouldn't it be cool if LOTS of film from the 69 tour all of sudden surfaced after so many years? Has anyone ever asked the Maysles bros, about the raw film that was shot during the tour and what happened to it?

when the Dvd of "Gimme Shelter" was released along with its re-release in theatres....a friend of mine went to the U.C.L.A. theatre to watch it...and the living Maysles brother was the guest speaker.....he said he still has reels and reels of the film.....it's already been discussed on an earlier thread.........un-tapped gold......let's hope these cannisters of film are being preserved........would be a crime for them never to see the light of day
