Is the magic still there?
Posted by: Gricha ()

Each and every time I wait for the Stones to get on stage (all together there have been many times) I ask myself "is it going to work again this time or is it the Stones show that will mark the end of an era by getting me bored?"

So far the magic has alway been there, last time was Amsterdam, next is Los Angeles.
However, I'm getting this feeling that we are close to the end of it all.
No?

That depends of the night. Sometimes they are, sometimes they're a total bore. I've seen two shows on this tour. The first one (Ottawa) was lame, the second one (Toronto) rocked. I decided that for 450 bucks a ticket, the magic / price ratio is not good enough for me, and I'm done with live shows, for now... But hey, maybe it's just me.

I saw 4 Stones gigs in Europe, a few months ago. The magic was there, as ever...

Magic : yes. How can a long time fan be unsensitive when Charlie takes hold of his drumms, the riff of JJF explodes, and Mick takes possession of the stage. Those 30 first seconds !!! A huge, huge delivery. Something that you have kept inside yourself since the last gig 3 or 4 years ago.

There is a reason we bother to post in this forum - of course the MAGICK is still there!! ;-)

In twenty five years of seeing show, it's only not been magical twice - my very first one (JFK Stadium, 1981 and Giants Stadium, 1994). That's a helluva lot of spell casting!

I am not sure if it was the movie setting and the fake crowd FOS or dependent on where your seats are but people are either raving about this show or saying it was good but not great.

Pure rude magic all the way foo me...they still do it for me...I even think they are better than in 03!....but the ticket price...is (pause) real shite....many times R&R lers do not have so much money(because they R&R to much!) so they cant buy the ticket ....but if the gang lower the prices a little...and play more hot rocks from Undercover...everything will turn to gold(ahh have to play that one...I lurv it!!).

I'm starting to see the top of the rabbitt's head peaking out of the hat before the show, but yes for the most part the magic is still there.

Giants Stadium '05 and Twickers 2 this August proved they still have it for me.

On a good night, nobody can touch 'em!

Having not been able to attend a 21st century Stones show, the quality of the boots serves well enough to demonstrate that the magic is alive & well.

Start with the Toronto club gig of August 16, 2002, then the Licks tour, "Four Flicks", the May 10, 2005 mini-set at Julliard, and now the Bigger Bang tour.

I'd agree with the opinion that the band is even better now than they were four years ago.

I'm listening to the Toronto gig right now -- I'm thinking now that it was a watershed event -- to quote Nicholson's "Joker": "Wait until they get a load of ME!" LOL

Until I got on this board, I thought every show that I had seen and CD (album, 8-track, cassette) was great! Still do.
