OT: The White Stripes -- Someone Convert Me

OK, so I haven't heard much by them yet. I d/l "Seven Nation Army" and it left me cold. I heard a fragment of "Blue Orchid" and that piqued my interest.

This duo is the great white hope for rock n' roll? Meg White is kinda appealing, as she reminds me of the basic thump of Maureen Tucker. When women become drummers, they just get down to the basics, and frankly, it's all that's needed, so don't get all up in arms about that comment.

As for Jack, I need some convincing. So, why should I buy one of their CDs? Which one? "Elephant" or "Get Behind Me Satan", or both?

There're debut, The White Stripes and its follow up, Di Capo are the most bluesy in their catolouge. White Blood Cells is good as is Elephant, but I did'nt bother with the last one. On the first two they are like a blues/country revival band just adding they're own thing to it, but they've branched away from all that on their last few.

Hi bassplayer, - i'm in the same boat. I've been listening to some of their stuff, but don't have any albums yet. I listen to these two songs a lot lately though.

I should of added ROCK to that too. Jack Whites favourite LP of all time is Fun House by The Stoges. Everything is very distorted on their first 3 albums. They're worth checking out. Actually, Blue Orcid put me off them and was equally unimpressed with the follow up single, Ringing On My Door Bell.
