Hi all, tracklisting for "U218" is finally here, though most of you will probably know this.
The full tracklisting is:
'Beautiful Day' 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' 'Pride (In The Name Of Love)' 'With Or Without You' 'Vertigo' 'New Year's Day' 'Mysterious Ways' 'Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of' 'Where The Streets Have No Name' 'Sweetest Thing' 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' 'One' 'Desire' 'Walk On' 'Elevation' 'Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own' 'The Saints Are Coming' 'New song title TBC'
The 18th song listed as 'New song title TBC' on this list is actually Window On The Sky, one of the 2 new recordings produced by Rick Rubin in London in September.
Why the hell is The Swetest Thing there? They should have replaced it with something from Pop. I would choose Gone or Discothèque. This best of is only to get a fan started I guess, it´s defenitly not supposed to give a real look into their carrear and great catalogue like best of the 80´s and 90´s did.

I agree with you. This is a singles collection and Sweetest Thing was a high chart single in the UK (#3?), but Discothèque was actually a #1 single in the UK and also one of their highest charting US singles at #10.
Sunday Bloody Sunday was not a UK or US single, as Two Hearts Beat As One was the second single off War, but it was a single in Germany and other parts of Europe.
All 4 singles from Leave Behind are on this which gives it too much representation compared to other albums. They are also missing another UK #1 single in The Fly, which was also absent from The Best of 1990-2000, except as a bonus track in some places. I know The Edge has said that he feels that song has not aged well (I disagree), but that hasn't stopped them playing it live on their past 2 tours.

I'll only buy it to get the 2 new songs and the 10 song live in Milan 2005 dvd that comes with the special edition. Otherwise, I may only play the whole cd once.
NME is reporting the UK edition will include I Will Follow as a bonus track, making it 19 singles on that version. I would imagine Japan will get this bonus track also.
My favs: Electric Co. Gloria. Rejoice. Jerusalem. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. With Or Without You. Vertigo. New Year's Day. Where The Streets Have No Name. Sunday Bloody Sunday. Bad. The whole of The Unforgettable Fire. Angel Of Harlem. --- BB, no boring accountant. But I was there from the start, and remember when Bono had Passion & was furious.

Whats wrong with a rock star on his off time trying to do something positive for the world instead of just lounging about getting drunk or high? Whatever your personal feelings are about his music, there's a lot of evidence that he's been far from crap at getting success from his charity work.
The best song on the last tour was the opener by Arcade Fire. :-) Now I ask me-why is the prize for a ticket on the field in Honolulu 49 Dollars.these are around 40 Euros. It`s cheaper then last year in Vienna.mmhhhhhhhh One of my favourites band is the opener for U2.That would be a reason for me to travel to Hawaii-Pearl Jam.It`s also their last concert this year.
If you buy the SPECIAL EDITION there's also a bonus DVD of the band "Live In Milan - 2005" with at least 10 tracks on it (maybe even 15). Anybody have the song list to that?

They haven't released a track listing yet for the 10 song Milan dvd, but some songs from that show were released already on cd on the U2 Communication fan club cd/cd-rom. They may use those same songs plus a few additional.
I was a huge U2 fan in the very early 80s, then got bored with them. Got ore interested in the late 80s, then was totally turned off by crap like Zooropa and POP. Got back into them with the last couple of records. Saw them live for the first time in years on the Elevation Tour. Frankly, the Stones sound embarrassingly bad next to these guys, at this point.
I have not seen the Stones play with that much energy, power, passion, in maybe 25 years.
I'm not a fan of Bono's act, but they can play and put on a show.
Why would they release such a greatest hits? They allready have two very good compilations on the market. Always thought U2 wouldn't release such cd's just for the money. WRONG, I guess.

as discussed on previous threads, they're switching record labels and this is actually a contractual obligation
I hate...HATE how they continually try to play up their recent material and ingnore everything they did from 1992 until 2000 or so. Half of this comp. is stuff from 1999 and later. That is just silly. Why is "SOmetimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" on there? The only people who love that song are in the band. Also, "Sweetest Thing?" "Walk On?" Those are decent tracks, but don't belong on any "Best Of" album. "Staring At the Sun," "Discotheque" and "Stay (Faraway So Close)" should be the replacements. Not that those are my favorite songs in that period, but they'd at least paint a decent picture of what they were up to in the 1/3 of the career that they've IGNORED on this piece of shit.
