Friend of mine went to see him in Belfast a couple of years ago. he consumed an entire bottle of whisky during the course of the show, and as you could guess, wasnt too averse to doing a lot of shooting from the lip between songs. Still put on a terrific show, apparently

Sounds great Gazza. I saw Ian Gillan do it once, highway star was one off the best number Ive seen live ever. Drinks to the singers!
One day many years ago I drank 3 bottles of vodka in about 5-6 hours, ended up at the hospital, 6,9 prommile alkohol, they havent seen that before. Sober now, almost 1 year, but it scared me just to wrote about it. Now I need somthing to cool me down.Good reason?

Your friend or Kris? I thought he slowed considerably on the booze?

Saw him do Silver Tongue Devil live in my hometown (Louisviile) in a tavern/pub and he was fantastic.

"Sunday Morning Coming Down" - another gem from Kris.

He makes Dylan and Keith sound like the Everly Brothers, though.

Saw him solo acoustic in NYC this past March. Was working for the promoter so I didn't catch the entire set, but it seems he is what he is. Nice guy, folksy storyteller, good songs, and no voice left to speak of.

Dude's definitely still got the charisma, though.

Has anyone really seen Kris Kristofferson live? Or, alive for that matter.
Great writer, not much as a performeranymore, though

I saw Kris several months ago. Pretty good! He did 2 sets. Set one lasted about 50 minutes, he took a 20 minute or so intermission and then did another hour. He was solo acoustic w/ harmonica. He looked good on stage, off-stage he looked frail. I think he is 72, his wife I think was in her 40's and looked like she was in her early 30's.

i think he just turned 70,not really sure. Thanks guys he seems to be still going, wasnt accpected any performing, just his voice and the beautyful lyrics, "best of all possible worlds" is fantastic its bases on the novel of Voltaires "candide". If you havent read it do it.

Absolutely go.

I saw him this year in Sydney -- solo acoustic -- and he was wonderful. He seemed to me to be in fine shape for his age. I wouldn't worry. You will get the authentic Kris Kristofferson.

Got my LP copy of Silver Tongued Devil signed, tho' I didn't get to meet him, got it sent backstage through some connections.

There's a funny story he tells about being at June Carter's funeral. He was sitting next to Johnny Cash who was also obviously very frail at the time, in a wheelchair, failing sight. As people were leaving they would come up and give their condolences to Johnny. One bloke came up and also spoke to Kris, saying what a great singer he was. After the bloke left, Cash eaned over and said "Well, that makes one."

Of course he's no Mariah Carey in the pipes dept but some of us think that makes it even more special. But then I've always prefered Keith's singing to Mick's so what do I know ... ;-)

Saw him two years ago, excellent! Solo acoustic, great songs and a great storyteller. And Cirkus in Stockholm is a perfect venue as we all know...

I highly recommend KK live. I saw him last year at the Olympia theater in Dublin solo unplugged and he was great. He was in fine shape, sober and his voice was no problem at all. I am looking forward to seeing him live again next year.

supposedly true Kristofferson story......he was scheduled to be a guest speaker at an AA meeting (been known to dip into the devils punchbowl himself)...........the alchies were still waitin for his arrival, when he shows up completely shit-faced drunk, staggers up to the microphone and without missin a beat says: "when i look in the mirror each morning, i know things are gonna work out allright...but when i look at the bunch of you losers, i know that this is as good as it's gonna get"........then staggered out of the building and left without sayin another word...........one person stood up and clapped, the rest were stunned.....the person clapping was Rod Steiger
