At the end of many concerts, I see many bands doing more then one encore!
Did the Stones ever did that???

In Horsens they did 2. YCAGWYW and Satisfaction.

In Tallinn (Estonia) in 1998 they also did two encores - Brown Sugar and You Can't Always Get What You Want.

They played these two encores at many shows in 97/98, but according to the following link not in Tallinn.

They definitely played YCAGWYW, so far it's the only Stones concert that I have attended, I was in the front row and remember it clearly.

Then they probably did play it.
I don't think there is a bootleg recording to verify, so I'll take you word for it )

The best double encore I have witnessed was Midnight Rambler & Jumping Jack Flash in Hartford 2002.

Yeah, I have to agree with Lasse Carlsson, this show was great (although there were 36000 people, not 45000) and completely blew me away. Too bad that they never came back, they promised but that's the showbusiness. I still hope it wasn't the first and the last time I saw them.

I think he means two 'separate encores' - ie where theyve left the stage and came back twice. Usually the Stones do one encore - consisting of either one or two songs.

Rolling stones' encore is not a really encore. This is only a part of the show. The real encore wouldn't be the same in each town and sometimes people would get a 1 or 2 or 3 songs encore. A lot of bands play like that but not the stones. There is no place for mood or temper. There is no plan for that.

Call me pedantic but I'd count all those as examples of what was one encore with two songs in it. For two encores, wouldn't they all have to leave the stage a second time before coming back again?!

I remember reading an interview with Mick many years ago where he said he thought encores were rather silly, something like "all this back and forth."

I've got to agree with him......but I do like to get as much as possible :-)

A lot of people complained about the way they finished Twicks 1 (including Mrs Oily), OK that was an encore, but you can't beat a powerful abrupt finish IMO.
