Those who have the 1970 "Leon Russell" solo debut know Bill & Charlie play (including, "Roll Away The Stone") on it along with lots of other superduperstars...The 1994 DCC label gold disc of LR included along with a couple of Leon outtakes "Get A Line On You" an early
version of Shine a Light...I also dug Leon's 2nd lp from '71, "LR & the Shelter People."

Man, as I watched the "Delta Lady" clip, I couldn't help but think of John Belushi imitating Joe Cocker right along side of him on SNL. That was one of the funniest things I have ever seen! Belushi had Cocker's mannerisms down perfectly!

DaveG, so had the driver to my friend while watchin Dag Vag a couple of months ago... But he didnt imitate, he was like that...

NICOS, the Mad Dog's gotta be Leon.

Sure he's up on shaky spaghetti legs soon &
if we're lucky and he has Aspirin at home, we could rest our eyes
on a great little review within some three hours from now.

Maybe he made a complete book of it "An Evening With Leon" or he didn't make it because he had two flat tyres.

all right, all right. Can't a guy nurse a bad hangover without iorr shouting at him? I had a great time. In fact, Nico and Baboon I sent you some photos and my review of the show. Let me know what you think.....I'll send them to any other person if they'd like. I was too lazy to get all these photos up on photo bucket, plus I didn't want to slow down a RS website with lots of Leon Russell photos.

Don't worry about pictures - how about a setlist. Highlights of the show?

It was really loud and the sound was distorted. I saw him in a much smaller club in Blowing Rock, NC in May and enjoyed it so much more. I could hear it better then. On the bright side, I had a lot of fun and was able to get really close to Leon, as the photos indicate. And I saw Leon without his sunglasses for the first time since, well ever. He also was much more animated than usual. He moved around much more than he usually does, and seemed to genuinely enjoy himself. He played all of his hits in a rock and roll fashion. He played a couple of country tunes, mainly Rollin In My Sweet Baby's Arms. You name it, he played it. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Greensboro, so we were able to walk to the venue, which was good because these draft micro-brew ales I was drinking at the bar apparently had an unusually high alcohol content.

Oh well, thanks for asking about the show, Baboon and Nico, here are some songs I remember:

Delta Lady (the first song)
Crystal Closet Queen (about Little Richard)
Roll Away The Stone
Night Time Is The Right Time (Ray Charles)
Out In The Woods
Shoot Out On The Plantation
Back To The Island
Lady Blue
Hummingbird
Masquerade
Magic Mirror
Song For You
Jumping Jack Flash (Rolling Stones)
Wild Horses (a country version of the Rolling Stones song)
Tight Rope
Stranger In A Strange Land

These are the only ones I remember.
I think he also did a Dylan song or two, maybe A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall, but I am just guessing.

Later,
Luke
