UK midweek sales, Biggest Mistake is falling...

On Monday's sales the new single started at #31 in the singles chart but it slipped like a stone on Tuesday at #41. I don't think it will get a place in the top 40 the next Sunday. 40 Licks is close to the top 20 again, currently at #22. No news about ABB in the top 200 since December.

They had over 100,000 potential customers to play the song too in London this week and didnt bother performing it

If they cant be arsed promoting it (likewise the album, with only 2 songs played on Tuesdays show), you can hardly blame the audience - most of whom probably dont even know the single was released.

The people think they are still touring behind Forty Licks, and not only in England. In Holland, 40Licks is #13 and ABB #83.

Biggest Mistake has had plenty of prime national radio airtime. The Stones have had 2 radio documentary programs in the last 2 weeks. They are on the front cover (and feature inside) the main tv magazine, (Radio Times), and are on radio 2 again Bank Hol Monday. Not to mention the nationwide tour.
Publicity certainly is not the reason why this single has stiffed.
They should go back to including a couple of rare tracks as a bonus for fans who already have the album - otherwise no incentive to buy.

its not a very good song though is it ?

along with SOL its probably the worst on ABB

i was looking forward to hearing the live version of SOL after reading some positive reviews about it. however it still sounded like MOR tripe to me at Twickers

I think it would work very well live, with Keith singing harmonies like he does on ABB.

Does anyone over 12 bother with singles anymore? I've not heard it get much air play and the singles market has changed drastically over the last ten years.....

It HAS actually got decent airplay, ablett - and I think Radio 2 (which is the most listened to station in the country) had it as Record of the week.

If they arent bothered with singles - then dont release them. If they ARE going to bother, then play the bloody thing. Its a good song, too IMO and would work well in concert too.

Missed you at the cabbage patch? we were hoping you would join us.

Although I wouldn't complai about the setlist at the London gigs, I do think it would have made some sense in playing their new single. It's my favourite from ABB too!

Did hear some one shout your name at the gig but as you didn't have a t-shirt saying 'I'm Gazza" I couldn't spot ya!!! U at cardiff?

Sat behind a few Shidobee's though.....

Biggest Mistake is a great little song. Would have loved to see it performed at Twickers #2 - would also even have liked to hear SOL as it seems it transfers well to live performances.

ablett, i'm a little over 12 and I'm still happy with stones singles.
I don't want to miss songs like Anyway You look at it, The Storm,Cook Cook Blues etc.
Some prefer downloading but I prefer to buy it.

At least this single got two live tracks on it, and both are great. I love the mix in Dance pt1.
