you talkin about the temps song? that might be cool if they did that one. I could see mick really getting in to the vocals. thats one of those songs that has a lot of parts that are spoken rather than sung. "heard some talk about papa doin some store front preachin, talking about savin souls and all the time leaching. Dealing in DIRT and stealin in the name of the lord..."

I'm green with envy that you saw Jeff Beck. He's one of my favorite guitar players. I've only seen him once, in '89 on a double bill with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Him and Stevie Ray jammed on a few songs at the end - rock 'n' roll guitar heaven!

And I agree that Papa Was A Rolling Stone would be a great song for the Stones to cover. Put that at the top of the list with Dylan's Rainy Day Women as far as covers that would blow the roof off.

well..the Stones have already kinda covered it...as they play a couple of bars of it during Out Of Control (and 'Riders on the storm' too)

Good point - I always thought there was a strong Temptations vibe to that song, especially in the bass line. Speaking of Temptations songs, woldn't it be great to hear Just My Imagination back in the setlist? It would be interesting to hear Darryl's take on that bass line that was played so brilliantly by Wyman.

It was the third of September... OK, then The Stones ought to do this one for the final Euro-show in Horsens, Denmark. I believe that will be a rather special one, so I'm going. At a point I wasn't going to, but... Something tells me that's a very special show. Nice pic, Rockman! Your files must be worthy of a museum! Great to have you on the board.

But Rooster... Seriously: Why should we ask a band like the Stones, with the best back catalogue in the world, of songs they've written, to: A) Play someone else's song.
And cool smiley Why should we ask a fantastic line-up with a chemistry that works really well on this tour, to ask a looner like Beck to join?
I just don't get it!

Because...its the greatest Stones song...The Stones didnt wrote...Because its better than... nighttime....Because this song tells the truth...cause they are Rollin Stones..because if they dont play it daddy is gonna cry...because it would be Out of controll.........and Jeff Beck...is the lost Stone ...played with Woody in the sixties...worked with the Stones and with Mick Jagger..who always wanted Beck in the Stones...
