VIENNA: Gut´n Abend de Madeln, servas die Buam

Oh my God, what an incredible concert! There is a more than forty years history of Stones-concerts in Vienna , and I have seen quite a lot of excellent shows in my hometown. How does it come then that its always the last show that is the very best? I will come to reviewing the show later. Here I only wish to tell You that Mick speaks Austrian (Viennese) dialect pretty well. When greeting the audience he said, clearly understandable: Good evening to the girlies, hello to the boys! in Viennese dialect.(see topic of this thread). For english speakers it would sound like: GOO-dan AAH-bend dee MAH-deln, SARE-wuss day BOO-ah-mmh.

The fun about this is that "Gut´n Abend de Madeln, servas die Buam" is sort of a catchphrase in Austria, for it was used by Heinz Conrads, a locally famous entertainer, as his "signature" standard introduction to his weekly TV-show for more than twenty years or so. Conrad´s TV-show (which spoilt my Saturdays in the sixties, seventies and eighties, aimed at elderly people and was sort of a potpourrie of Heurigen-songs, give-me-hope-I´m-ill poems and dull jokes. It was, if you know what I mean, the exact opposite of a Rolling Stones show, well, viewing at the greyhaired audience, perhaps with the exception that it was geared towards the same target group ;-))

Do the girls still scream, when you perform on stage? KR: Not on stage, but when I perform, yeah.

Mick uses a prompter when he speaks local.

He really said that? I missed that completely!
But he really talked a lot and the audience always loves it!

He's very ambitious learnin' the hostin country's language.
All hard core fans know that.

I remember Mick saying in an interview in the 80's: "People often ask me how I remember all those lyrics. I don't have to remember them, I wrote them."

I guess after 40+ years and 400+ titles one would need a prompter.

It was just a notice .Everyone can have a " black hole" on its own words. If he feels more secure with it, that's his choice.

the point of that topic in my understanding is that mick jagger seems to know this australian entertainer. not that he uses teleprompters. its just the modern form of note sheets.

Mick was in a kind of a same lines he last time visited Finland. He said in clear Finnish language "Humppaa tai kuole" - dance humppa or die (humppa is a really old folk's dance that pensioners dance in homes for the aged) A true contrary to Street Fighting Man they played.
