Hi, there
Any old-timers around who recall seeing the Stones before they were famous? I'm thinking particularly about Studio 51 just off London's Leicester Square early 1963.
They had a regular slot there on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Even then the boys had attitude and me and friends couldn't get enough of them.
I've just had book published called Somewhere In The Distance, about four mates growing up in the Sixties and the influence on them of the music of the time.
The Stones figure extensively. I played a lot of their early stuff while writing the book.
Also, remember standing for hours outside Curly Clayton Sound Studio in London's Highbury Fields in 1962, waiting to get a glimpse of the band (sad, eh!). Me and my mates saw them a couple of times turning up for recording sessions.
A lot of water has gone under the bridge, but it's good to see the band still going strong. Long may it last!
Thanks for looking in.
