No, actually I think they'd drag Tina Turner out of retirement. At her age, she's the only performer with as much stage energy as Mick.

replace him with a bass player? Well, thats original at least, I'll say that much!

How do some people get to be Stones fans? Do they enter a competition on the back of a cornflakes packet or something?

I can only assume you're saying this for a joke, in which case it worked as it made me laugh!

going on without keith would be like going out without mick, it doesnt make sence

Basically what the original post is trying to say is that Jagger,Watts and whoever else could go out on tour.Sure they could but,(a)It would not be the Stones.(b)They wouldn't call themselves the Stones.(c)It would not be a good idea especially,at this point in time.(d)It would be much worse and it would probably sound similar to the Jagger 1988 live versions of RS songs which, for the most part, were pretty bad.If you don't like Beast Of Burden these days, you'll gain a new appreciation for the recent live versions if you listen to the 1988 attempts at it and then compare the two.

I'd pretty much suspect that without Keith that would
be it for the Stones. Why continue? Charlie could
pursue his jazz thing or just enjoy retirement,
Mick go solo, and/ or pursue his acting. Ronnie
just get drunk all the time and do the ocassional
live show. I hope it doesn't happen, not yet,
but I suppose it all depends on how Keith is.
I can't see them belabouring it beyond that,
would just be too much of a hassle and they
know it wouldn't be the same, isn't
necessary anymore. The fun would
be gone out of it.

Sorry, beg to differ theif in the night.

I'm not saying go on tour without Keith but the Stones numbers performed by

Jagger, Ripp & Satriani on the '88 solo tour were powerful and dynamic and you

could actually hear the riffs played with such authority and superb solos not seen since Taylor.

Compared to Keef's and Ronnie's pedestrian playing these days and the staid

arrangements the Stones play now the 88 solo tour versions of RS numbers are vastly superior.

I would not say that the '88 solo tour versions of RS numbers are vastly superior, but they were not bad either. My major complaint concerning the '88 versions is the drumming. It's often rushed and give those Stones songs a rushed feel which does not always do them justice cause it takes the swing away that is always apparent in Charlie's drumming. And that swing is an essential part of Stones songs. Apart from that, those 1988 versions are not bad in my book, and the guitars are indeed powerful and dynamic. And that is not always the case nowadays.

In the end it comes down to the fact that the Stones without Keith are not the Stones.

I cannot believe my eyes. People actually consider the Stones without Keith.

Maybe we can start elaborating on other interesting issues of the same calibre, such as:

If cars didn't have wheels, what could we use to drive them?
If painters didn't have brushes, what could they replace them with?
If the sea water didn't have any salt, what could be added in its place?
And if the human body had no blood, could we use water instead?

All of you pondering a Keith-free Stones version, will you please stop for one second and actually THINK what you're talking about?

It's NOT possible. It's not even thinkable.

i am scared that this thread has been taken so seriously
ehi! yuh huh! wake up! that's ridicolous!
and about the mick solo performance of stones songs
i've seen webster - that should be consider i think the best moment for mick as solo artist - and well, i thought it was embarassing
i watched it back to back with the saitama concert and if the unbridgeable gap between the sound of the bands is not patent to people here, well i dont know what a stones fan is anymore. maybe gazza is right, i am going in the kitchen to check my cereals boxes...

I'd be happy to see them replace Keith With Jeff Beck and replace Mick with Rod Stewart hmmmmmm what a good idea I'd pay big bucks to see that show - they could even have Robin Trower as guest apperance. Rock and roll at its finest!

"I'd be happy to see them replace Keith With Jeff Beck and replace Mick with Rod Stewart"

Just move Woody to Bass, and you'd have Charlie with the original Jeff Beck Group!

I've got a better idea. Replace the Stones completley, let them reform and have them back on top.

Replace Keith with Johnny Depp and Mick with the ghost of Don Knotts.
