Some persons never are satisfied. The box é amazing.

...and some are satisfied very easily.

So many of the great acts of the past are issuing 'dream' material in great quantity now, the Rolling Stones stand in stark contrast to this.

It was done slow, almost like a bluezy ballad, that's what I liked about it.

The Stones have nothing to do with this reissue, it's ABKCO.

i've had plenty of gripes with abkco over the yrs as has most of us and they should of put out a version without the opening acts for those who either cannot afford or not interested in them. but other than that fans should be grateful to get unreleased songs . they actually did something with material from the vaults and still get bashed by stones fans for it.

well...at least you can cherry-pick the new Stones songs from iTunes.

even though i have mild interest in the opening acts and would
like to see the new MSG dvd I couldn't justify the $50 or $90 expense
for the boxed set. Maybe I'll pick it up "used" at a later date.

i'm very happy with my SACD Ya-Ya's (on my SACD player) and
content with 5 new tracks from iTunes for $4.95.

I used to collect EVERYTHING but it's getting a little harder
to defend...most of my collectibles are not displayed and I have
other uses for the $$.

The Stones can release what they want, always someone will say: it´s not so good. It´s bad. It´s crap. It´s just because there are negative people. I prefer positive people. But, well. Each one think what want.
In 1972, many people said: Exile on Main Street is a crap. Today the album is classic. Opinions...

In my opinion, Get Yer Ya-Yas Deluxe Box Set is great: five stars.

Please, don´t kill me just because I think a stones release good.

Its crap, because we all know there is more, the worst songs on the show released and fans get excited...

Is it crap just because there is more material? So, all Stones albuns and videos are crap because always are more material and just a little number of songs were include in each album/video.

Exile on Main St., let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, etc... all is crap.

Oh, please! The new Get Yer has 5 songs never released before, a dvd with good material and one cd with B.B. King and Ike & Tina. Are there more material? of course. There are material not include in Biggest Bang, in Four Flicks, in 25x5. Are there craps, too?

Come on, friends.

I am frankly surprised to hear that many people are not pleased with this new offering. Please Bitch2, how can you say these unreleased tracks were the worst of the setlist? Where does that come from? The actual album of course sounds wonderful on the SACD release, but if you don't have that then this box set is big upgrade considering what else you get. The Ike and Tina Turner Revue, and BB King recordings are very good. Would have been great to have had some Chuck Berry in there too since that is whom I saw open for the Stones in 69 along with Terry Reid. No matter, it is cool that some opening act recordings were made and included in this release.

The 5 added songs on one of the discs is simply wonderful. I just wish these numbers were on the original and that Ya Ya's was a double album. When the Stones played Prodigal Son and You Gotta Move on this tour it was very cool and very well received by the fans. It was roots blues simply presented as it should have been. In those days acoustic songs were welcomed by fans as opposed to being a pee break for the tourists we see so frequently in present times. The medley of UMT and I'M Free is simply fantastic. No other way to describe it. The way they segue into I'm Free is seamless and it could pass as a Stones tribute to the Stax house band of Booker T and the MG's. Charlie pays homage to the great Al Jackson. The band is just in top form. Everything is in the right place. Satisfaction is a killer version, the tempo quickened and the intensity with it. Mick just reels in the crowd as only he could do on that tour. I can't get over how great the guitar tone was on this tour. These unreleased tracks bring home in spades. I felt that way when I went to the evening Chicago show, and this just brings it back. It was that overall sound the Stones could make! No one else had that, and there were great bands around in those years. Lots of em. Whether some of you realize it not those added tracks are special. I can't stop listening to that stuff and it just sounds better the louder you play it.

The DVD is also great. Yes, of course it would have MUCH better were it longer, but it IS really fun watching. The Maysles must have more footage. I would have preferred to just watch and listen the band playing on stage as opposed to the editing that like in Gimme Shelter just leaves you wishing they would return the concert footage alone, but that was how the Maysles put the film together. Look, I'm a middle aged guy and I still can't get enough of that stuff from 1969. It was a very exciting time to be a Stones fan.

The package it worth every penny IMHO. It is great new/old stuff. It isn't perfect, but it is very good and the good news is there is probably more out there somewhere. I just hope it is released before we are all dead and gone. Meanwhile I'll take this and love it. I'll tip my hat to ABKCO on this one. I think it's a good start in opening some of the old archives along with the "Circus" release. Also, keep this in mind, when have the Stones not made us wait?

...and that is my point.
Sure it's fantastic to see the bonus DVD & the bonus soundboard tracks but it leaves you wanting MORE !!
The DVD could, and should of, had more footage....and not just given us "filler" footage...we all want more songs on stage....

Just take it as it comes guys. People complained that nothing was coming out of the old archives, and now that we have something new people are complaining again. Sure it is ok to want more, but why not enjoy this? It IS good, very good.

Hi Eleanor Rigby, so you agree with us. The box is fantastic. If you listen the cds and watch the dvd and want more is because is fantastic. If the box is bad you say "it´s all for me. I can´t see more anything". But you want more, you wait more... so, is excellent. And ABKCO can release a new box set with more songs and images in the future.

:-)

I'm enthusiastic; just received the de-luxe version with the vinyls.

I've two questions:

the chapter of the video where keith's playing piano and then choosing UMT between the masters (BTW, I wonder what other material is in those tapes apart Sister morphine re-take), do you think is at the Olympic Studios?

Second question: have you localized the exact place where took place the photo session of Charlie?

Second question: have you localized the exact place where took place the photo session of Charlie?

according to a Wikipedia entry:

The movie shows "...Jagger and Watts on a road in Birmingham, UK, in early December 1969 posing with the donkey. The actual cover photo however was taken in early February 1970 in London, and does not originate from the 1969 session. The photo, featuring Watts with guitars and binoculars hanging from the neck of a donkey, was inspired by the lyrics to Bob Dylan's "Visions of Johanna" (although these lyrics refer to a mule)."

Seems they didn't get a shot they liked at the '69 Birmingham session so they tried again in London a couple months later.

Visions of Johanna (lyrics)

Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet?
We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The country music station plays soft
But there's nothing, really nothing to turn off
Just Louise and her lover so entwined
And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind

In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain
And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the "D" train
We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight
Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane
Louise, she's all right, she's just near
She's delicate and seems like veneer
But she just makes it all too concise and too clear
That Johanna's not here
The ghost of 'lectricity howls in the bones of her face
Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place

Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously
And when bringing her name up
He speaks of a farewell kiss to me
He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all
Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall
How can I explain?
Oh, it's so hard to get on
And these visions of Johanna, they kept me up past the dawn

Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles
See the primitive wallflower freeze
When the jelly-faced women all sneeze
Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze
I can't find my knees"
Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule
But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel

The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending to care for him
Sayin', "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go out and say a prayer for him"
But like Louise always says
"Ya can't look at much, can ya man?"
As she, herself, prepares for him
And Madonna, she still has not showed
We see this empty cage now corrode
Where her cape of the stage once had flowed
The fiddler, he now steps to the road
He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed
On the back of the fish truck that loads
While my conscience explodes
The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain
And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain

I like the new Ya Yas but since listening to the cool JJF solos on the recent "Broadway" release, it seems like Ya Yas is missing something.

BTW, I think the BB King/Ike & Tina Turner CD is stellar.

Greetings from the Jersey Shore.

Many on this board complain for years about the lack of 'rare' stuff or 'unreleased' tracks.

The stones finally start to do so and guess what, a guilty few moan, moan, moan.

Its probably why 'board posters' that once contributed to this board can no longer be bothered.

And I'm pretty well one of them.....
