Rarely mentioned influence - Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon

They must like this guy's music, although they rarely mention him. He sang "Tallahassee Lassie", "Palisades Park", and "Where The Action Is".

I read somewhere that Mick told Charlie the drums on "Brown Sugar" should be played like TL. They almost always play TL during rehearsals, warming up, jamming in studio, etc. Any thoughts?

Palisades Park is a great song. Springsteen used it as the music played to open his Tunnel of Love shows

Didn't one of Bruce's early drummers go by the name "Boom Boom" too?

almost - Ernest "Boom" carter - plays on the title track of 'Born to run'

Bruce did play the John Lee Hooker song 'Boom Boom' on the Tunnel of Love tour as well!

Good story and points, Beely. It's a shame that places like Palisades Park are going the way of the dinosaurs. Greasy, sleazy places we used to go to at the beach are giving way to shiny highrises and the usual suspects - McDonald's, Wal-Mart, and the rest. Our coastlines are losing a lot of their character. Never been to NYC or Jersey. I'm speaking of southern places like Daytona, Panama City Beach (the redneck Riviera), and Myrtle Beach. Oh, yeah, the great beach music is dying out too. Sad to say.

My area of the country has lost a lot of the stuff that made it so great. I'm talking about interesting characters, friendly people, and so forth, not the ugly stuff like racism and fighting about the confederate flag.

Now the American South is just about like anywhere else. The southern charm is greatly exaggerated (especially in the cities). Atlanta has the southern charm of Detriot or Philly. The rural areas are still great though.

Oh yeah, love the Kinks.
