hi everybody. we were discussing heavy stuff in the last hours, so i will put out something more trivial. i fell in love with a wonderful woman last week and now my head is full of music. so what do you think would be a good sountrack for a beginning love affair? "some girls" would not be the best choice... i actually had "factory girl" and "this place is emty" in my personal jukebox. "perfect day" by uncle lou would be a great tune too, but i still haven't stayed a whole day with her. "love street" - the doors? "reason to believe" by rod stewart always made me sentimental. but i'd prefer to take a more optimistic direction. i'm leaving work now, still hoping for a call of her. "waiting on a call from you.." - not from one of my favourite keith tunes, but the line fits. i wish everyboy a good day (and night) and for me, that the dam telephone rings!
being the cynical old sod that i am, can i suggest the Gram Parsons version of "Love Hurts"?
On a less cynical note, I attended an Elton John show, on sunday night, and i found myself, holding onto my girlfriend,(romantically, you understand!), during the fabulous encore of "Your Song". A beautifully-slushy romantic record.
"That's how strong my love is"....especially from the Licks-tour - and then she may even start loving the Stones as well May be too "strong" after just one week....
i am a cynical old sod too... no problem. it surely is not a very popular move on this board to say something positive about elton john, but i must admit, that i like some of his old tunes too. and - yes, i know, "perfect day" by lou reed doe not only refer to addiction in the sense of loving a girl...

I'm the man who brings you roses when you ain't got none....Loving Cup is by far one of the most ultimate love songs ever.
I always liked Good Hearted Woman by Waylon & Willie. Same with Wildwood Flower. June Carter sounds like an angel singing that song. Both kind of kind of along the lines of being from a one side of lovin' a rat bastard view love song. Wildwood Flower makes me cry every time I hear it. I'm such a sucker.
Sappy love songs...How about Keep On Lovin' You by REO Speedwagon?
