At one time or another in their career, the Stones have been associated with just about every other memorable name in the music industry either through some collaboration on stage or in the studio or because of their influence on the other artist or the other artist's influence on them.
I don't recall any connection with Pink Floyd. Is there one? Certainly they must have run in the same public circles coming from the British music scene of the 60s. David Gilmour has worked with Pete Townshed while Roger Waters has worked with Eric Clapton. Townshend and Clapton are close to the Stones, so there is at least an indirect connection there.
Does anybody know of anything more between the Stones and Floyd?
the only thing i know is that david gilmour played on the latest chris jagger album

I was going to ask people the same thing. These are two of my favorite bands but don't recall any link between the two..
How about the Grateful Dead and the Stones. After the whole Altamont thing was there any other link between them. I know Mick Taylor played with the Dead in the 80s. Jerry and the Dead have also covered Stones songs, anything else?
I know one connection...that ROger Water solo album from 83 or 84 was together with Stones' Undercover slaughtered in the press for bad cover.....the female-movement was upset. (I know it's not the answer you were looking for...)

that's about it as far I can think of - the Bill Graham connection - Bill cited many times that both acts were the best at their respective games.
I know that David Gilmour and Mick had a lot of mutual friends in the music/fashion industry in London in the seventies, Chelsea/Barnes type scene, so they all know each other.

I remember hearing/reading that Keith (maybe Mick too) went to one of those Acid Test parties that Ken Kesey's gang had in the 60's. Mountain Girl was part of that group, and she was married to Jerry G at one time. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was the Dead who brought them to the party.
I got the impression that Keith wasn't too impressed with that whole scene. Mick/Keith were sexy hippies, the SF hippies were kinda dirty, not so sexy.
hadn't heard that about Keith, Cindy....from reading Phil's bio - he is/was quite the Keith admirer...tells a story of sitting on a plane next to him and being in awe.
Yeah...funny that ...Pink Floyd started as a copy band, playing mostly Stones songs? And acutally took their name from two old blues players...whom I can't recall at present...but one had "Pink" in his name...the other...dare I say it? *lol*

Vilhelm - you have become so jaded! That makes me sad.

To 'The Worst',
You say they are both London Bands.
Pink Floyd are a Cambridge band. They all went to the same High School there, even Dave Gilmour I think. Olivia Newton John's father was their headmaster - and he was a quite a 'lad', by all accounts.
Not surprisingly, they did move to London soon after leaving school. I think Barrett is still domiciled in his home town.
Another Cambridge band is Katrina and the Waves. Another is The Soft Boys.
