Just think about it...Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang" DVD Box Set...
Date: May 30, 2006 06:40

As much as I do not ever want this tour to end, everyone knows that the day will come. I know, I know...I dread it too. But think of the box set they are gonna release after this tour. So many tremendous things happend on this tour. Four Flicks was a sweet box set, but this tour has already have such tremendous things happen. Just think:

- The multi-story gigantic stage (history made!)
- They played the SuperBowl (History made!)
- They played SWAY! (speaks for itself)
- They played mainland China!
- The whole Keith thing
- They played to their biggest crowd ever in RIO

The list goes on and on and on. What other sweet things do you guys think will be on there? What do you think it will be like? How many DVD's do you think there will be?

"She's got a mind of her own, yeah, and she use it mighty fine..."

Come on, get real. Hardly interesting set lists and musically it's getting worse and worse.
Gimme a box covering anytour before Steel Wheels.

The 2 Hollywood Bowl shows and the L.A. Forum show would be worth the price alone.

Come on Kees. Dont be so picky. They had sweet shows and will continue to. Just because Mick is being a little conservative on the setlist doesnt make them good shows. Someone try and tell me that if you went to a Stones show and they played 3 songs they dont normally play or that are switched up, but the other 18 0r 19 are warhorses. Tell me you wouldnt have a good time. Just the energy, the attitude, the rock n roll. Thats what its about man.

You should look for A BIGGER BOOTY 2 DVD set that is in circulation among traders. No need to wait for the Stones to realease something 2 years from now.

History - how? they shouldnt have played it anyway. Doubt theyd even get the rights to put the performance on a DVD anyway

> - They played SWAY! (speaks for itself)

does it? whats the big deal about playing an old song for the first time. Done that on every other tour. A nice addition but hardly groundbreaking.

> - They played mainland China!

and cut the show short! and kow-towed to one of the most appalling regimes in the world! and charged the fans a months wages for a ticket! Jesus, I remember when the Stones actually had backbone and wouldnt play in countries because they had issues with the government's poor human rights record (eg pre-apartheid South Africa, Franco's Spain, military junta era South America, etc). Where next? Zimbabwe?

> - The whole Keith thing

It was filmed? Yeah that was something to be proud of, for sure. Do the people who lost hundreds of pounds due to flight cancellations thanks to his foolishness get a discount on the DVD?

> - They played to their biggest crowd ever in RIO

well it was free after all and its a pity that they only chose to play 3 shows on the entire continent which they supposedly love going to whereas the US got about 60 shows (with maybe more to come), but I'll give you that one as a 'historic event' plus it was a very good performance. That show will probably be the official DVD anyway
>

nothing - although maybe they'll throw on the Days of Our Lives episode. What a memorable addition to their canon that was. Maybe we'll also get one of those club shows that they suckered us into joining the fan club to get ticket access for.....oh wait....

>What do you think it will be like?

full of songs theyve played to death and nowhere near as interesting as Four Flicks was

How many DVD's do you

one

Happy Birthday Gazza! Apparantly you haven't taken the day off...

And I agree with Kees: give us a DVD of any tour before '89.

LOL! Gazza, it seems you didn't like your birthday cake! Happy Birthday, BTW.

Talking about the main subject, anyway, I wouldn't call a live DVD released after a World Tour a "novelty"... But we don't want to talk about a "Bootleg Series" a-la Dylan or about the vaults again, do we?

thanks y'all..I dont mean to piss on keef4life's good intentions or hijack his/her thread, but I just think a multi-disc boxed set DVD for a tour was a one off because of the significance of the last tour (40th anniversary etc) and the types of shows they did - this tour will obviously get some kind of DVD release, but it doesnt really warrant such a lofty project because - all discussions about setlists and performances aside - its not THAT groundbreaking by comparison.

One dvd, pretty much like B2B. Probably Rio or Buenos Aires. Nothing special, nothing exciting.

Happy Birthday, Gazza!

for the life of me, I can't imagine anything they could come up with as a new idea to document this tour. Four Flicks was great and reflected that unique tour very nicely. their imagination has departed them for this go-round....

i don't think they can top the forty flicks-box because
the bb-tour haven't that much stuff to make such a release
like ff.
i agree with others, they'll put out a dvd from one show,
maybe rio, and some bonus.
the superbowl show was released on the official
superbowl-dvd, if i'm right?!

yes, it was.

I very much doubt the Stones would have the rights to put it on a release under their own name.

imo, they saved their rights in their contract.
maybe this will be the bonus stuff on the next dvd?

No, I won't shut up for you mttlacroix. No reason to.
Even the 'worst' gig of 78/81 tour does much more for me than any boot from the SW tour and later on. Ronnie en Keith clearly don't have it anymore and the background vocalists make it even more a Las Vegas act. Chapeau for Jagger as a frontman/singer and Charlie though.

RS are doing a great performance nowadays,
but I'm not interested in a DVD-box of this tour either.

ok, well clearly some people (andrew9138, Erik_Snow, Keef4Life, Gazza, etc...) here see reason, the stones are doing great this tour. By the way, for the most part, 1978 was one of their lower periods when it comes to performing (except for some boots like handsome girls). Too bad, because it was a great album. 1981 wasnt the best, but it was improved. Don't think just because this isnt Licks part 2 with the different setlists, or that there are backups, it doesnt mean you have to slag them. In this tour anyways, the backups etc... are toned down. This is one of their better tours in later years.

open the vaults and forget all this new stuff already, mick really needs a reality check, give us the 69-78 stuff already, all the other bands do it,
but not the stones they have to be pricks about it

I have to ask the question: do we really need another tour document? Since 1981, the Stones have released a live album/video concert of every tour. The discs always contain the same thing, and while its interesting to listen to the playing and singing get worse and worse over the years, all of these live albums (with the exception of No security which was a nice surprise put out by Rolling Stones Corporation) contain almost the same tracks. I agree with other people, open the vaults already.

Why not a DVD box called "As complete as it gets"
with videos and other filmed stuff from the beginning
up to the present day.

We've got enough of DVD's of tours I think.
And then again the Four Flicks DVD gave us a good hint
of what tours mean to the Stones these days.

With the sars thing and the global warming project they
took part in.

One DVD though that could have some legimity could be
the show at Copacabana, Rio

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!
