we Stones fans know Levon is along with Charlie the most soulful drummer in rock and roll. Happy Birhday Levon, and its great that you are singing again, sounding great. we hope for you and Charlie that the throat cancer is gone for good.

Happy birthday,Levon.

I guess The Band is the only North American band that could rival The Stones

yay, happy birthday Levon!

speaking of The Band...
speaking of the Las† Waltz
Dr. John - i got his new one the other day. "Merceneray", an album of Johnny Mercer Covers. He does them all -- I've Got a Crush on You, Blues In The Night, Moon River, You Must Have Been a Beautful Baby... it is so awesome, i'm totally in love with it.

hi B R Queen, thanks for the tip on the Dr John cd, I will check that one out. kind of like Charlie and Bernard's efforts, only with a little New Orleans flavor..?
Did anyone see the Levon Helm Band on the Imus show Wednesday AM? man it was great
to see/hear Levon, and the band was excellent of course. Levon played guitar on one song, mandolin on the other.
the man is a soul survivor

..just sad that his autobiography is so bitter..in places it's almost like reading ole Bill Wyman......"and then we took a cab and Mick and Keef left me to pay" Yeah..they also made sure you made a couple of millions along the way ;-)

Having said that - he's a great drummer and a great singer.....what's that song again on Scotty Moore's album? With Keef...Worth the price alone!!

'deuce and a quarter'
well if you mean Levon's side of the Band story especially about Robbie Robertson, as told in 'This Wheel's on Fire', I don't doubt Levon's telling. He's not bitter for himself but for the effect Robertson's financial moves had on Rick Danko and Richard Manuel...thats how I read it anyway.
