going out with a 'bang'

i recall about this time last year when i heard that the band was going on tour, and that they would have a new album coming out, called bigger bang, making a joke in my head that the band might go out 'with a bang'.
i wonder if the band thought of this with the upcoming tour and the uncertainty of how the band would be feeling at the end of a tour, or whether they could pull off another one in 2008 etc.
do you think its a pun that they called it bigger bang?

that would mean they thought about the album in general - while both the musical output and cover art indicate that they didn't.

I guess they didn't have a thought at all!
As they always say about the question "Is this the last tour"?
They don't know themselves! Same with the record!
They cannot possibly know wether it's the last one or if they
make 10 albums more!
We can only hope they keep on going!

The Stones do not work like the communist party or another long term system where everything is set up in 4 or 8 years plans. They meet up two times per year off tours and discuss what to do in the time to come. They have plans but they don't plan many years ahead. They are intelligent people and they know the band is based on four individuals with real lives. They have made plans up to and including December 2006 and that's about it.

I too thought that going out with a Bigger Bang may be what this one was all about.
Rather than leaving on a greatest hits, 40th anniversary tour, they did this one right with a bigger bang: More shows, more people, higher prices/revenue, Rio extravaganza, China, now India and Thailand and a final return to the US and Canada to say farewell.
It's been a great ride and we'll miss them!

Charlie said that if people enjoy this album, they'll make another one like it! So they didn't think of it as the last one.
