Watched a documentry about dusty springfield last night and have to say what a under estimated singer dusty was and regard 'dusty in memphis' is a superb album.
Great to see a Dusty Springfield thread. Fantastic singer with a hauntingly, beautiful voice. Ask Dionne Warwick or Aretha..they'll tell you how great she was.
Any record collection , which doesn't have 'Dusty In Memphis', is lacking credibility. -it's indispensible.
Thanks for that,i thought i was going to be the only one, i must admit i lost my copy of 'memphis' but should be buying it today, on the documentry they played 'going back' for her funeral which sounds a nice record.
Apparently great friends with linda mcartney before her death and something i did not relise that dusty was a lesbian in which obviously she couldent disclose at that time.

it wa always one of those 'worst kept secrets' wasn't it? everyone knew her sexuality, but i don't think, she was ever officially 'outted' as such. She always has a big gay following - but her sexuality shouldn't be an issue, with a talent as big as hers.

Dusty in Memphis has been re-released with about 10-12 bonus cuts. Strong stuff - Great vocals. The notes say she was a perfectionist (read:bitch) in the studio.
