Today, I saw one of my co-workers burn 10copies for people without paying, do u think this is majorly hurting the sales of the album, in other words more people have the album than we think....

I made more than 10 copies for free so far, the last a week ago.

I'm sure that burning CD's for others hurts every band, although maybe it turns non-fans into fans so they go out and buy other albums.

I'm sure Mick and Keith aren't hurting financially because of this!

georgelicks, since you're here, any update on US sales? I know it must have passed 500,000, tho it hasn't been on the chart since that blip (# 198) after the Super Bowl.

The last number that I got was 508,000 and 2,800 copies sold two weeks ago.
The album spent 19 weeks on the Billboard 200.

the album, with its problems, deserved far better..the fact the album has not done better in terms of sales is more a commentary on the state of rock and roll today than the rolling stones themselves..face it today its all hip hop and bastardized pop.. the big hype critics darling indie rock bands are not selling as much as a bigger bang...

rock and roll is looking pretty dead these days...

but i'm digging my charlotte 72 boot... so i could give a flying finn

I read somewhere that the internet sales were doing well. Are these included?

As far as burning cds = damages artists, this is, in part a myth.

At least here in Italy I pay my share of copyrights on every given blank cd / tape I buy, even if I fill them up mainly with non-copyrighted stuff.

Sales are down to the market, quality of the material etc.

The Stones are a live attraction rather than a new albums band. I thought U2 crossed the same line with Pop but they seem to have pulled back, equally Aerosmith seem to be a live/oldies act now. MaCartney and Floyd would be the same if they were out there. People see the name not the new album. Think the Red Hot Chilis might find this next.
