Tokyo Dome - most terrible site in Japan

Sound at Tokyo Dome have been most terrible in our country as same as before.
Stones must consider to use another facility even if they ignore the
revenue effect.
Bad sound reduce good impression of good music half.
What do you think about my tow opinion?

On the surface it would appear to be all about revenue with the sites the Stones selected to play in Japan on this tour.

I have seen several shows at the Budokan - too bad the Budokan was not selected at least for 1 show. Is there a reason? Is the Budokan under going any construction at this time?

masatoshi,

You must be got bored with each other. (Kentai-ki in Japanese?)

A friend of mine told me that he never remember the sound quality when he saw the stones at first time. Me neither!
Their coming to the stage was enough to make me happy.
Look at the upside.

1cdog,

Budokan is infamous in terms of the sound quality. It's sort of like a Karaoke in the bathroom.
The place is for professional wrestling and martial arts. They need more echo.
I prefer to the hyper show than the poor rock shows at classical music hall.

Toru,

Glad you like Tokyo Dome. I hope you had good seats or brought your bionoculars.

Yes, I believe the Budokan was built for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. Beatles played there in 1964 as well I believe. Budokan does have bathroom sound you speak of but the Budokan is great for viewing shows. Many great albums have been recorded @ the Budokan over the years including "Just One Night", Eric Clapton live @ Budokan. Of course that's using soundboard equipment and not an actual audience recording.

I have seen Clapton many times @ Budokan and yes the modern rock sound system does tend to over power the smaller venue but that is tru for the Albert Hall in London as well. That said I would rather see Clapton @ the Budokan or Albert Hall anyday than one of the large U.S. Arena shows.

No. Every time I see stones show, I tend to think this is the last time for me even if I have ticket for next show. This tension doesn't allow me to check the sound quality.

To tell the truth, I wanted to see them at Civic Hall beside Tokyo Dome.
As it has 1,800 capacity, it would be almost club show.
However it doesn't happen. Just chasing after rainbows.

I know there were many good shows at Budokan. I know EC showed us good but his 2nd visit nearly 30 years ago was horrible. Probably Faces in '74 is the best except for Stones.

Yse, Stones should do gigs at Budokan 4times instead of Tokyo Dome 2times.
If so, expensive ticket(55,000yen(USD460) to 9,000yen(USD75)) is worth it.

I have seen many shows at the Budokan over the years, and in my opinion, with the current speaker arrangement, if you are facing the stage in the lower half of the second level (nikai-seki), the sound is fantastic. This is because your ears are level with the speakers. The first tier is good for seeing but the sound is terrible because of the overhanging second tier.

Anyway, the Stones at the Budokan was one of the three best shows of the 22 that I have seen (the others are HIC Arena in Honolulu, Jan 73, and LA Forum earlier this year). The sound was loud, the crowd was crazy and the setlist was absolutely amazing.

By the way, I agree that Tokyo Dome has terrible sound because of the roof. The sound would be better in an outdoor venue like Jingu Stadium or Yokohama Stadium, BUT, weren't you glad you were indoors on Wednesday when it was pouring rain?

A couple of comments:

1. Don't forget the great "Cheap Trick At Budokan".

2. I would think the most terrible site in Japan (besides non-scary monsters in b-movies knocking over refrigerator boxes) would be the Hiroshima Memorial sites. We could all learn something there.

Yes, When it rains, Dome is good place for protection of rain.
But Budokan,Saitama super area, Yokohama arena is good sound because of inside areana and worth expensive ticket(55,000yen(USD460) to 9,000yen(USD75).
Tokyo Dome is not worth it.
