I was driving back home yesterday at 3 in the morning. Driving too fast, I know, but it was late and I wanted to go back home.

I put this Jap VL tour boot I had downloaded ages ago and never actually had the chance to hear. I was blown away. I have to go back to those VL gigs. Remember in Paris a great concert under a pouring rain, but only lame perfomances on boot after that.

As I said, that was until I went through this tokio set. What to say? HUGE performance by the Stones (and great regording too)!!! Above all Monkey man, sweet virginia, rock and a hard place and street fighting man were performed at a celestial level.

Everybody seemed to be quite "high" that nite! Lot's of joking between mick and band. Some true classic moments:

1. Jagger introducing Live with me as a track from "exile"
2. Jagger saying something in Japanese and then adding something like "what AM I saying"? in english.
3. The HUGE ovation for Charlie
4. Keith introduced JAgger on vocals (this does not happen often, does it?)

The thing Jagger says about him not understanding his own Japanese words I think is (In a mumbling voice): I really don't know what I'm waffling on about. Can be heard clearly on the DVD boot "Nippon Voodoo" (GREAT show). Is that the right show?

Yes ,you both are talkin about the same show.But it wasn´t the best show of
japan 1995.I think march 8th and march,14,16&17th were even better.

Best place to get a copy? Downloads are awkward being at work and on an acient Apple Mac!!!

I'm sure you are right!

I never understood why I have always neglected the VL tour. Sure VL was (not a crap album but) the worst studio effort by the stones (at leats imo). Sure the no-event of the milano show was a let-down. Sure those stages and stupid outfits they wore did not exactly match my idea of what the stones should be. Yet I loved that only Paris show i was able to see and I can remember that I was impressed by the quality of their performance.

Probably it was that calim of using play back, maybe I was afraid to see it was all true?

Watched it on DVD a few weeks ago (Nippon Voodoo) and this moment always strikes me as typical for MJ's indifference towards his own legacy. Though a disclaimer might be the fact he says "I THINK it's from Exile"... Fine show though!

He usually says that when introducing Rocks Off. I suppose he mixed up the introduction list and started about it before Live with me.

I suppose he maintains that indifference on purpose. Why would he have to ask Charlie every bloody night what album Rocks Off is from?

Voodoo Halloween (MLH version) is the best DVD boot of that tour.

I think Keith is on blistering form on that one (12-3-90) . He almost hits Ronnie in the face during Rocks Off and SITS DOWN for the HTW solo.

Great gig /tour ,before their age (understandably) strated to show.

Nothing beats the VL tour. NOTHING.
