Spanish Tony

Hi

In regards to the recent post about Sanchez (& others in the Stones circle c1966-74), I have never been able to verify that Spanish Tony Sanchez died....at least with documentation that will satisfy me (govt records, opposed NOT gossip, heresay (sp))....

...but personally, I have been unable to locate a death certificate or a published obituary on "the" Tony Sanchez which would confirm his death. (A primary source.)
Perhaps he died outside of Britain (Italy, Spain?).

I don't take too much stock in John Blakes "Up & Down" comment, nor anything else by that swine....its good reading, but FICTION!

Anyone know of a Sanchez's death record, or obituary in newspaper?

A couple of months ago, I also posted a request for the whereabouts of Spanish Tony and no one could say with complete certainty whether the man was dead. My own research led me to believe that he had died of cancer 2or 3 years ago.
Nothing for sure though.

Habeas motherfucking Corpus.

Just a couple of things I found on the web - nothing that I would lend all that much credence to.
I'm still waiting to hear something definitive, hence my "habeas..." comment.

That's what Habeas Corpus means - "produce the body".

Do we know Tony Sanchez was even his real name?? He didn't seem like the sort to inspire life-long loyal friendships, but still, you'd think somebody'd know how to track such info down. Who gets the rotyalties from the still in print book?

In the 2005/6 editions of his book there is a pic of him on the inner cover and a capture that says that he died peacefully in June 2002.

We know nothing of Tony Sanchez -we know he was a drug dealer who got close to the Stones. He was around from 1967 until about 1976, and that's about all we know. The name "Sanchez" is not even certain -within the music circle he was only known as Spanish Tony, and it wasn't until the famous book that we got a fullname. I really doubt anyone would write a book under his own name saying "hey, I trafficked heroine and cocaine around the world for some of the leading rock artists".
