Was this song done in standard or open-g tuning on the Love you Live album?

This came up before and since the song is in A it seems that the tuning used was open G with a capo at the second fret. I tried it and it works!

Great...I guess the solo is in open as well?

I doubt very much that this is in open G. It definitely sounds like standard tuning to me, but I might be wrong of course! The thing is, you'd have to work quite hard to play that in open tuning wheras it's easy in standard.

Its open tuning, Keith plays it in open at Knebworth too, the pirate guitar, and the solo is done in open. Typical open tuning solo by Keith with the same techinque heard on his open tuned solo on HTW in 1975-1976.

I used to think it was in standard tuning as well sjs until the subject came up here a few months ago and I was prompted to try it. LA is correct about Knebworth too. If you watach the vido you can see Keith playing it on the fabled pirate guitar in open G.

This should be the only Chuck Berry cover that Keith plays in open G, innit?
