I read somewhere that Rory Gallagher denieded to join Stones, beacuse this would be something opposite to his vision for music. Is that true?I also read about someone else too.I think these are bullshit

Reminds me of a night about 20 years ago. I was at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel (as I recall, that was the name) in Providence, RI USA. I recall they had a drink special that night so we went. Long story, short, I'm standing there drinking and listening to the band that was playing and say to the guy next to me something like, "I don't even know who that is". To which I got a shocked reply back, "Dude! That's Rory Gallagher!"

Now I've gotta Google him, because to this day, I don't know his significance to R&R.

Umm, actually he played a Strat.
I hink you may have confused him with Roy Buchanan.

i really like one of his first solo albums after "taste".
one of my all time classics.
rory was very good with his own stuff, more a solo artist with band,
don't think he was a team player, never would have fit in the stones
as a taylor-replacement.
he was vey good live, saw a dvd the other day, a real twanghound indeed.
god bless him.

He jammed with the Stones for a few days then went off to Japan. His brother claims he wrote Miss You.

Why? Was he there with Mick and Billy in 1977? Wouldnt be the first time the Glimmers are a little too creative.

He was in the studio on 27 January 1975. His brother later claimed in his biography of RG that the (unrecorded) song was Miss You.

speaking of Telecasters, any fans of the late, great "Master of the Telecaster," Albert Collins? Was listening to some Albert last nite - boy did that guy have a serious "tone" or what?

Yes, Albert Collins is great. I'm happy to say I share his last name. Actually, I guess b/c we're on the internet, I could tell you we're related!

If you guys ever get a chance to hear his live show from Montreux either in 75 or 74, you should check it out. It's his best recording that I've heard thus far but I don't have all his studio stuff.

my last names Gallagher; the Oasis bros and comedian shame the name, but Rory brings it up, he was a true blues legend who would still be playing his amazing licks into this millenium had he not killed hiimself.
