I'm a B-52s fan as well as a Stones disciple. If any B-52s/Stones fan attending tonight's show would be kind enough to report on the set that they play aT Radio City Music Hall and post in this space, that would be appreciated. I saw them recently and much of their show was from their first two albums (the mustard & ketchup LPs) and Cosmic Thing from 1989 or 1990.
Stones fans going to show who planned on not being in their seat for the B-52s set might reconsider. They are a fun band and their songs are never boring.
Are the B-52's REALLY finally going to put out a new album??
Why have they waited so long? Pserchia, you would know about this. I've always wondered why they kept touring but stopped recording. It's not like their new albums weren't big successes (unlike another band we know).
They sort of became the New Wave Who.
I love the B-52's, but of ALL the really interesting opening acts the Rolling Stones could have picked for Radio City Music Hall....good grief!!!
Last week on the radio I heard that song "Jerking Back and Forth" by Devo, and now I'm dying to hear it again. I don't own anything by them, but I just loved the sound of it, so I'm considering buying some.
I can't remember the exact setlist, but they opened with
"Strobe Light"
Then, maybe not in this order, they played
"My Own Private Idaho"
"Channel Z"
"Roam"
"Cosmic Thing"
"Love Shack"
"Rock Lobster"
That might be all. I think they played for about 30 minutes. I thought they sounded great and were true to their original selves. I love the B-52's and saw them numerous times in the 80s. Cindy's voice and stage presence were a marvel (her wig was hilarious and she never stopped shaking it up), and Kate is absolutely infectious. Fred is a tonic to the whole thing, and a very good, funny front man. And Keith's (Strickland) guitar is very reminiscent of the late Ricky Wilson's, and has a great stripped-down quality.
Had no idea that the B 52-s were even still touring, let alone opening for the stones. I dont care what anyone says, or what year it is, the B -52s opening for the stones in New York is one f****** cool show. period. Whoevers going, have a good time.
